HOW IS THE MAIN AXIS OF A CONTOUR PLATE DETERMINED

All contour plate sides will have at least one "index number", the side with the largest index will form
the x-axis for the profile
1) All sides have one index which is their length
2) All sides which are part of a square corner (90 +-0.05 degrees), will
have an additional index:
XS_POLYGON_SQUARE_CORNER_PREFERENCE_FACTOR x length
Default value of XS_POLYGON_SQUARE_CORNER_PREFERENCE_FACTOR is 2.0.
3) All sides which have parallel sides, will have an additional index:
XS_POLYGON_PERPENDICULAR_EDGE_PREFERENCE_FACTOR x length
Default value of XS_POLYGON_PERPENDICULAR_EDGE_PREFERENCE_FACTOR is 1.5

The side with the largest "index" will be used as the x-axis. In the picture on the previous page, you
can see a plate as it has been modeled. X and Y axis are global axis.
1) All sides have an index equal to their length, so the largest index is 310 (edge 7)
2) Edges 2,3 and 4,5,6 form a 90 degree angle with the next edge to them, so their index is
multiplied by XS_POLYGON_SQUARE_CORNER_PREFERENCE_FACTOR (2.0 by default)
Hence, they have additional indexes of 2x141 = 281, 2x283 = 566, 2x200 = 400,
2x100 = 200, 2x200 = 400, respectively
3) Edges 2,3 and 4,5 and 5,6 are parallel, so their index is multiplied by
XS_POLYGON_PERPENDICULAR_EDGE_PREFERENCE_FACTOR (1.5 by default)
Hence, they have additional indexes of 1.5x141 = 212, 1.5x283 = 425, 1.5x200 =
300, 1.5x100 = 150, 1.5x200 = 300, respectively
The largest index from all 3 steps is 566 for edge 3 from check 2). Thus, the local x-axis for this
plate is along the edge 3, and in the drawing the plate is rotated like below:
