kemiskinan. Konsep koperasi merupakan konsep umum dunia, namun ketika

koperasi akan diterapkan di Indonesia yang digagas oleh Bung Hatta muncul
perbedaan yang mendasar tentang konsep Koperasi Indonesia. Koperasi Indonesia
tidak sekedar sebagai badan usaha seperti firma, perseroan terbatas tetapi koperasi
Indonesia merupakan agen pembangunan untuk pengentasan kemiskinan. Koperasi
Indonesia mengemban misi untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Selain
itu, koperasi Indonesia mempunyai peran untuk menyebarluaskan jiwa dan
semangat koperasi untuk dapat dikembangkan pada perusahaan swasta dan
negara. Adanya perbedaan peran koperasi Indonesia dengan koperasi di negara lain
dilatarbelakangi bahwa koperasi di Indonesia lahir karena adanya kemiskinan
struktural, di mana kemiskinan bukanlah merupakan masalah baru bagi Indonesia
dan di lain pihak sebagian besar penduduk Indonesia masih berada dalam kategori

miskin. Oleh sebab itu, perlu adanya usaha untuk meningkatkan kesadaran
masyarakat Indonesia atas peran dan manfaat koperasi untuk meningkatkan taraf
hidup warga masyarakat dengan cara memberikan contoh untuk meyakinkan
bahwa sesungguhnya koperasi mampu mengelola usaha dengan baik sehingga
memberikan kesejahteraan kepada anggota.

Pada tahun 1844 di Rochdale, inggris didirikan koperasi konsumsi yang
dipelopori oleh Charles Howard. pada mulanya koperasi Rochdale hanya
bergerak dalam usaha untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan konsumsi. namun
kemudian mulai mengembangkan sayapnya dengan melakukan usaha-usaha
produktif. dalam rangka memperkuat gerakan koperasi, koperasi-koperasi
konsumsi bergabung menjadi satu menjadi pusat koperasi pembelian.
2. FRANCE

1. JAPAN

usaha, misalnya menyelenggarakan usaha pemasaran hasil pertanian,
menyediakan kredit untuk usaha perasuransian, pemberian bimbingan dan
penyuluhan pertanian bagi usaha tani. Bentuk Koperasi yang lain disebut
Koperasi Khusus. Koperasi ini hanya menyelenggarakan satu jenis usaha
seperti Koperasi buah, Koperasi daging ternak, Koperasi bunga-bungaan dan
sebagainya.
2. KOREA
