PROFESSIONAL GROWTH PLAN

Goals for the first year of teaching:

Build relationships with peers

o The biggest thing I want to do in my first year of teaching is to find a veteran
teacher that can help me learn more effective ways to get my students to learn.
Build a strong relationship with students parents
o Have all of my students parents on my side is the best way to maintain effective
classroom management. This will also help to make sure all my students have
multiple people focusing them on their learning.
Learning more ways to keep students engaged
o In my education I have learned many different ways to keep students engaged
with learning, I believed that learning does not end when I graduate. Learning
new developing techniques whenever possible will help me to create a safe and
effective learning environment for all of my students
Continue to work on areas that I am not strong in
o Although I believe that I am a good teacher in many different aspects I know that
I have areas that I need to continue to improve in. For example I know I need to
improve my classroom management. Although I am somewhat lacking in this area
I know that I can continue learning and develop my classroom management to be
a major strong point in the near future.

Long-term goals:

Receive a Masters degree

o One of the major goals that I have for myself is to get a masters degree within the
next five years or so. I think getting my Masters is a great way to continue to
grow and learn about being a teacher in the long term.
Continue to develop a classroom management philosophy
o Currently I have a somewhat good understand of what I think is good classroom
management however without getting long term experience in a classroom I
cannot reasonable believe that I understand everything. So hopefully by my fifth
or so year I will have a first-hand experience nessicary to create a full
encompassing classroom management philosophy.
Continue to learning about everything I can about being a good teacher
o Over the course of the next 5 years I want to keep learning and growing within the
field of teaching, I will do this by going to workshops, going to professional
growth conferences, etc.
