leadership strength of
organization. Allen
speaks about giving
your full attention to
one task at a time is
the most important
trait in becoming
organized. The
student nurse is very
good at planning and
only focusing on one
task at a time. This
skill allows her to be
organized and
complete each
individual task
correctly and in a
timely manner. As
nurse there are a lot of
things going through
your mind but it is
extremely important to
write everything down
and plan your day
accordingly. If you
organize your day by
hour and give your
100% attention to
each task youre doing
at that moment it
eliminates the chance
of distraction and or
error.

nurse on her unit she was

able to see how to manage
time efficiently when you
are in charge of
assignments, any change
of conditions with patients,
attend hospital wide
meetings each day, and
also take care of at least
one patient. The day went
smoothly because the
charge nurse had done it
enough to develop a
system so she best uses
her time efficiently and
gets the tasks completed
she must get done.
Another important tool she
used and explained to be
to best manage her time
was delegation. She really
focused on teaching the
student nurse that it is
okay to delegate and ask
for help even as a charge
nurse because as a nurse
you cannot do everything
yourself.

The student nurse

became ACLS certified
for her professional
activity. This activity
enhances her strength
of being a leader.

called. Someone
needs to assign the
tasks and call the
shots. As a leader, the
student nurse felt that
this experience helped
her become a better
leader because she
learned that it is
crucial to be calm,
direct, specific, and
speak loud and clear
when in charge of a
code as a leader.
Education:
Continuing Nursing
Education and/or
plans for Higher
Education

To better care for the

patient as whole, the
student nurse plans to
additional college
classes to become
efficient in Spanish.
Living in Arizona the
student realized during
her preceptorship how
many individuals
speak Spanish and
how much easier it
was for the nurses who
were fluent in both
English and Spanish to
care for these patients.
The student nurse also
plans to become a NP
in the future and
becoming bilingual will
only benefit her in her
future career dreams

The student nurse focused

her additional education
on her strengths.

Within the next 2 years

the student nurse plans to
pass the NCLEX, and get
hired at the Mayo Clinic in
Scottsdale, AZ.

Within the next 3-5 years, the

student nurse plans to graduate
with a nurse practitioner degree.
She also plans to receive her
first assist accreditation.
