Ever since my first biology class at AMSA, I developed a love for the subject. I especially enjoyed learning about all of the chemical processes that occurred in the human body. I am generally interested in topics that allow me to interact with others and keep them healthy, such as epidemiology, pediatrics, or veterinary medicine. I also took an interest in obstetrics and gynecology when I first found out that I was a premature baby who was expected to have many health and developmental issues. My interest in reproductive science only grew when I learned that my mother had three miscarriages and lost three other babies before I was born. I hope that I will be able to prevent situations like my mothers from happening to anyone else. Because of my familys experience and my interest in medicine, I would like to learn as much as I can about biology. I hope this will help prepare me for a pre-med program that would eventually allow me to study reproductive science, or whatever specialty I may choose. I would like to take AP Biology to help me achieve my dream of a rewarding career in the medical field. I am hoping that this course will allow me to go much more in depth on subjects than an honors class. In my ninth grade biology class, I was constantly asking questions. I understood the material, but I wanted more information on the subject than we were covering in the class. I was slightly disappointed in my biology class because the lessons were not as detailed as I would have liked. In addition to a faster paced, more in depth learning environment, I hope that I have many opportunities for hands-on activities, which are one of my favorite ways to learn. By the end of this AP Biology course, I am hoping to leave with a better understanding of the world around me, and to be more prepared for a pre-med college program.
