Technical data sheet for Slag Cement (GGBFS)

Saudireadymix -Grinding plant produces GGBFS Comply with ASTM C989 -2014
DESCRIPTION:
Ground Granulated Blast furnace Slag is a cementitious material for use as a part replacement of cement in concrete and
Mortar.
Granulated Blast Furnace Slag is produced from iron and steel plants, where the molten slag is rapidly quenched by
immersion in water producing glassy granulated material (GBFS).
The granulated Blast Furnace Slag is dried and ground to fineness to be suitable for use as replacement part of cement in
concrete manufacture or other applications.

Benefits Of The Use Of GGBFS:

-

Potentially strength development

Low heat of hydration; reducing the risk of thermal cracking.
Improvement of Sulphate and chloride resistance.
Improvement of workability, pouring and compacting.
Increase of durability (Long life span for construction)

Applications and uses:

GGBFS is used in all concrete applications:
-

Structures and foundations.

Structures of Offshore and marine.
Mass concrete as dams, bridges and causeways.
Concrete exposed to severe environments as waste water treatment plants.
High rise structures.

Delivery:
-

It will be in bulk or jumbo bags.

HANDLING AND STORAGE:

-

GGBFS is stored and handled in conditions identical to that of Portland cement. GGBFS storage is in watertight silos,
transported by bulkers and can be moved by air slides, cement screws and bucket elevators.
