INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study


With the continuous invention of innovative products, there is also the need for value
analysis/ value engineering invented. Mechanical fan was invented or home between the years
1882 and 1886, New Orleans, LA resident Schuyler Skaats Wheeler invented a fan powered by
electricity. And now in this generation, a newly invented electric fan was made for functions like
portability, lightweight and rechargeability. It is a challenge for companies/ manufacturers of
fans nowadays on how add value to electric fans, integrate its functions, and how its cost be
accepted to the consumers.

Product Description:
A portable fan is a mechanical device that causes a movement of air and is used to induce
airflow for a cooling purpose. Fans are widely used for circulating air in rooms and buildings to
create a more comfortable atmosphere.
This product is portable, small and exquisite, easily into a bag inside. Perfect for outdoor
activities and travel, or just place it on the desktop. It can also be used for pretty much anything
including a barbecue, taking it on camping trips or even using it to help prevent the hands from
sweating when working at a computer. It is usually used by consumers because it is handy,
convenient and not too heavy to bring wherever you are. Due to heat that the weather brings,
innovators have created this product to help bringing
Other brands of this portable fan has LED lights which adds value to the product since
the primary purpose of portable fans is to give additional cool wind to consumer but now that
some portable fans has LED lights on it, it also gives the customer the convenience of using light
in dark places. It was made to be very compact, easy to use and extremely convenient. It has

special fins that help it push more air without having to use a very powerful motor. In fact, it can
run on an 18650 battery without any kind of issues.
The manufacturers designed the fan to work with both batteries and using a USB cable. A
regular 18650 battery cell should provide several hours of usage before getting drained
completely. The bottom side of the fan hosts a small panel that can be used to adjust the speed
setting. Adjustable 3 speeds, the portable fan speed can be adjusted among low, medium, high
according to your demands. At the top, it has a small cutout that makes it easy to hang the fan in
a fixed position.

we can see that the demand for the usb fan is relatively high as oppose to its forecasted demand.

Evolution of Material Used

Older fans used silk and cotton insulation around the copper windings in
the motor. Enamel replaced cotton and allowed for much more compact
windings. Early fans were made with heavy iron/steel bodies and cages were
designed to protect the expensive blades, not protect fingers.

Modern fans are made primarily with plastic and much less materials.
The use of rare-earth elements like cobalt-iron alloys in motor magnets
allows some high end fans to be extremely small and powerful.
The "Airblade" is now replacing standard blowers in bathrooms.
They now have blade less fan.
