1.4. Well and production: base case

Use quick pattern option for inverted 5-spot pattern in grid construction and
locate production wells at four corners and injection well in the center of the
reservoir.
Four production wells with same oil production rate of 500 bbl/day from
1/1/1980 to 1/1/2010
There is no injection for the base case.
Initial perforation layers are 9, 10, and 11 for both production and injection
wells.
Constraints for producers:
o Operational: max surface oil rate as 2000 bbl/day
o Operational: min bottomhole pressure 1500 psi: shut in the well
o Monitoring: max wcut as 0.98--- shut in the well
o Monitoring: max gas-oil ratio as 50000 ft3/bbl --- shut in the well
Constraints for injectors if activated:
o max injection water rate is 5000 bbl/day
o min bottomhole pressure is 1000 psi
Wellbore geometry using the following parameters:
o K direction
o 0.5 ft as radius
o 0.355 as geometry factor
o 1 as wfrac

1.5. Options
1. Use production rates of 1000 bbl/day, 500 bbl/day and 100 bbl/day and
without injection to run the simulation model to compare the reservoir
performance
2. Use the production rate of 500 bbl/day and injection/production ratio of 1,
0.5, and 0.1 to compare the reservoir performance
3. Use the production rate of 1000 bbl/day and injection/production ratio of 1,
0.5, and 0.1 to compare the reservoir performance
4. Use the production rate of 100 bbl/day and injection/production ratio of 1,
0.5, and 0.1 to compare the reservoir performance
5. Use the production rate of 1000 bbl/day to optimize the perforation layers, at
least three variations are required
6. Use the production rate of 500 bbl/day to optimize the perforation layers, at
least three variations are required
7. Use the production rate of 100 bbl/day to optimize the perforation layers, at
least three variations are required
8. Combine some layers to reduce the complexity of reservoir simulation model,
recommendation such as combining layers 4&5, 7&8, calculate the average
values of resulting layers, and Use the production rate of 500 bbl/day and
injection/production ratio of 1, 0.5, and 0.1 to compare the reservoir
performance
9. Combine some layers to reduce the complexity of reservoir simulation model,
recommendation such as combining layers 4&5, 7&8, calculate the average
values of resulting layers, and Use the production rate of 1000 bbl/day and
injection/production ratio of 1, 0.5, and 0.1 to compare the reservoir
performance
10.Combine some layers to reduce the complexity of reservoir simulation model,
recommendation such as combining layers 4&5, 7&8, calculate the average
values of resulting layers, and Use the production rate of 100 bbl/day and
injection/production ratio of 1, 0.5, and 0.1 to compare the reservoir
performance

1.6. Result analysis guidelines

In reservoir simulation results analysis, here are some guidelines to extract
important results to present.

Obtain the initial distribution of gas, oil and water in reservoir

Obtain the oil saturation, gas saturation, and water saturation change during
the production duration
Find the expansion of gas in the gas cap
Find the time that gas break through the production wells
Get the field wide average oil saturation, average water saturation, average
gas saturation, average reservoir pressure change , and oil recovery during
the production;

Get the well production report: oil rate, water cut, and gas-oil ratio, and
bottomhole pressure, and oil recovery for each production well
