I. Warm Up: Remind students of the work they previously had completed in the Career Game book
II. Counselor Directed Instruction:
Give instructions for students on how to complete the rest of the book. Stress that it does not matter if they have not
actually done the things they check off, they only have to think it may be something they are interested in doing.
Ask students to total up their check marks and write the totals in the appropriate boxes.
Introduce the Holland personality types. Put up the posters of each type. Discuss each one, going into details about each
type including information such as likes, values, things they may avoid and personality traits.
Ask students to consider the color they had originally had the high score for and give them the option to change it now that
they have more information
Read clues describing a particular personality type and ask students to guess which type you are describing.
III. Student Guided Practice: Students independently complete the remainder of the Career Game book.
IV. Closure: How will you assist students in reflecting upon what they learned today? Are you prepared for tomorrows
lesson? What launching task or activity will be assigned, if any, to help students practice or elaborate on a concept
or skill taught?
Tell students that next time we will be meeting in the computer lab, and that students will have the opportunity to
investigate careers that suit their personality types.
