From the Desk of the Author~

Due to a series of traumatic experiences in my life, I
suffered from depression starting around the age of 17.
Although I attempted suicide at the age of 18, afterwards I
suffered in silence. I never sought any type of help.
According to a National Healthcare Quality Report from
Dianne Rosena Jones
2003, I was not alone. "Eighty percent of depressed people
are not currently having any treatment." My husband and
I simply never discussed it. A 1996 survey taken about women and depression by
NMHA confirmed that, "Forty-one percent of depressed women are too embarrassed
to seek help."
Seven years later, my life spiraled out of control and I ended up on a Psych ward for 3
days. Because I was in the Military at the time, I was forced to see a Psychiatrist for 1
year, but I refused to take any type of medication. The therapy sessions helped me to
admit that I was depressed and identified some of the underline causes for my self-
destructive behavior.
However, for me, traditional therapy did not facilitate the holistic healing required to
overcome my tragic experiences. It would be another 6 years, before I discovered the
cure for my depression. What I discovered and how it changed my life forever is
