3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION:
Irritating to eyes. Spilt material that becomes wet can render surfaces extremely slippery.
Move the exposed person to fresh air at once. Rest and keep warm. Get medical attention if adverse symptoms
develop or persist.
INGESTION:
Provided the patient is conscious, wash out mouth with water and give 200-300 ml (half a pint) of water to drink.
Try to induce vomiting by having affected person touch back of the throat with his finger or by giving him syrup of

Exposure should be avoided\controlled by ventilation or extraction if exposure limits are likely to be exceeded. Wear
suitable dust mask. Dust filter P2 (for fine dust).
PROTECTIVE GLOVES:
Use protective gloves made of: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC). or Neoprene. Do not use gloves of leather or cotton.
EYE PROTECTION:
Wear approved safety goggles.
HYGIENIC WORK PRACTICES:
Wash at the end of each work shift and before eating, smoking and using the toilet.
Stable.
CONDITIONS TO AVOID:
Hygroscopic. Reacts with moisture, damp conditions and humid air. These chemicals may generate an exothermic
reaction.
HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION:
A violent polymerisation occurs if calcium chloride is mixed with methyl vinyl ether.
MATERIALS TO AVOID:
Water, moisture. Strong oxidizing agents. Calcium chloride reacts violently with a mixture of boron oxide (B2O3)
and calcium oxide (CaO). Calcium chloride reacts violently with bromine trifluoride (BrF3).
HAZARDOUS DECOMP. PRODUCTS:
At very high temperatures chlorine gas will be evolved.
Dust may cause physical irritation to respiratory tract. May cause shortness of breath and coughing.
INGESTION:
SKIN:
EYES:
May cause severe irritation, redness, tearing, blurred vision. Prolonged contact may cause burning.
