which will enable him to know what is good &
to want
to do good
5.Man has free will
Man is alive
- Gift of LIFE given by GOD
- Mans life is SACRED
- Only God can give life, and only HIM can take it
away
Man is above Gods creation
- Man is very special:
- Gifts: to know Him, to love Him & to serve Him and
be
with him forever
- Final destiny & ultimate end: to be with Him
Man is meant to live a life of virtue & strive for
perfection
- Nature of man: gifted with virtue
- It is expected of man to act according to the
nature to
which he was created
- Man is unhappy when he do things contrary for
which he
was created

o body(physical side)- see, hear, touch
o soul (spiritual side)- intellect & will
- Soul animates the body

makes on the goodness or badness of his words,
thoughts, and actions

Biology: Homo sapien
Modern Latin: wise man
Christian view: person created by God in His image &
likeness and redeemed by His Son; we possess
intelligence & free will

SIGNIFICANCE OF BEING A PERSON


1.A person has an inherent dignity which must be
respected
a.Ones life is sacred & inviolable
b.A person must be an end and not a means to an
end
c. A person can & should decide (autonomy) what is
best for him without constraints
d.All person of equal worth regardless of race, color,
age, past history, socio-economic, political, or
cultural status
e.A person must be related to in a respectful
courteous manner
2.A person that has an ultimate destiny, a single final
end
Eternal happiness in union we with our Creator
Rights & needs
3. Lives with others in a community
Talents & resources for the common good
Live, grow, develop, improve with others
Peaceful relationships with others & shared values
4. A person reflects his Creator
a.A person possesses an inherent goodness that
helps one oneself & others

c. A person who is a healthcare provider must
continue Christs healing love for the suffering &
the sick
