1. PLANT CONSOLE CONTROLLER Boardman-IGCC SRU
Position Description
Candidate will work as console operator for IGCC Sulfur Recovery Unit located in Jazan
Refinery Complex which includes directing the shift workers to perform all operation duties
during the shift. He will be responsible about the safety of the plant and personnel and
maintaining reliable operation. Also, he will be responsible for monitoring the unit operating
conditions and parameters including product quality and make adjustments to maintain product
quality, yields and production rates.
He will be working on the DCS system along with many other supporting systems like vibration
monitoring, compressor control, MVC, Advanced control systemsand alike. He will report
any upset to his shift supervisor and concerned people.
The candidate should be flexible to relocate in eastern, western, central and south of the
kingdom serving the company or for training purposes, in addition, to willingness to work in
shifts, The employee will be working for Jazan Refinery Complex.
Selection Criteria
Experience Required: minimum Ten (10) years of which 5 years as console operator.
Solid experience with proven ability to operate plants of high complexity level; at least 5 years
experience in operating DCS and advanced technology systems installed in the plant.
Experience will normally includes progression through the Oil/Gas Operator levels.
Thorough knowledge of plant layout and applicable operation. Understand the Plant process
and equipment and any other related plants interconnections, and know how to do the line
service switching by means of interconnections piping and valves
Proven Experience in the start-up, shutdown and troubleshooting as board man of IGCC Sulfur

Have experience in working with various control system including Honeywell system.

Takes appropriate action to reduce product losses. In addition to using the on-line software
and hardware analyzers to reduce plant giveaway, utilizes other advanced technology
programs such as Neural Net Network Capability Models and Multi-variable Controllers (MVC)
on related process units under his control.
Utilizes Power Monitoring System (PMS), which combines digital electric power meters with
software-based PC system to obtain operational benefits.
Also, utilizes the PMS system to reduce the plant electric power consumption to reduce electric
power usage
Utilizes Performance & Profitability Monitoring System (PPMS), that provides the operator with
a real time economic indicators (Gross, variable and net margin), to enable him to maximize
his unit contribution to the Company revenue
Controls unit upsets and bring it to a safe and normal operation level.
Perform trouble shooting and problem solving during equipment or unit failure and performs
start-up and shut down of the equipment/unit safely.
Provides direction to the Operators.
Takes responsibility of Supervising Operator during his absence.
Provides training to new operators in the unit.
Handles all the communications in the unit as required.
He possesses the ability to take on assignments in any plant after break-in period of minimum
duration.
Minimum Requirements
Completion of ITC: English, ER; Math, MI.

Completion of GC9 Oil/Gas Operator Phases, On-Job-Training programs and the required
process courses.
Experience Required: Eight (8) years.
Eight (8) years relevant operating experience with proven ability to operate plants of this
complexity level; 2 years experience in operating advanced technology systems installed in the
plant.
Experience will normally include (1) progression through the Oil/Gas Operator levels, (2)
experience in the start-up, shutdown and trouble shooting of assigned plant and facilities
according to approved operating procedures and general instructions.

Duties and responsibilities

Utilizes PMS system to provide high-level technical operation and data dealing with operations
of Electrical Distribution System throughout the plant.
Utilizes PMS system to monitor and to reduce the electric power consumption as required.
Handles DCS system.
Utilize PPMS system to maximize all units revenues under his control.
Utilizes Neural Network Capability Models (Advanced technology programs).
Operates Multi Variable Controllers (MVC).
Updates soft analyzers (Inferential Models) and/or Neural Network databases appropriately to
drive MVC and/or Supervisory Controllers utilizing these analyzers.
Uses Gensym G2 programs.
Liaison with DCS and Process Control Engineers to implement Advanced Control and/or
Alarms Schemes that will enhance the operations, safety and profitability of the unit(s) under
his scope.
Operates the fractionation columns closer to fractionation targets. Achieves faster recovery to
stable operation after upsets, smooth transition during changes to new targets and reduces
product give-away.
Utilizes Feed Management Program, using Boiler Plant Master Program with sophisticated
equipment/devices and be responsible about the steam system management with minimum
fuel gas consumption.
Operates the control system of GOSPs.
Perform the following high level operating task during equipment failure or unit/equipment trip
such as the following:
o Collects data as alarm history, sequence of events, process variables and figures.
o Performs diagnosis and troubleshooting.
o Seeks maintenance help.
o Performs immediate commissioning after determining the cause of the trip and after
taken the necessary corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence and to insure protection
of the unit from further trips.
Controls plant upsets and brings to normal operational level.
Controls products specification and give-away.
Performs start up and shutdown duties in complicated plants.
Works as a liaison, if nominated, between operations and other organizations when a
mechanical modification or additions are being made to the unit under his control.
Contacts Safety, Fire Station, Security Operations, OSPAS, Laboratory, up and downstream
plants, etc. for emergencies and operational purposes.
