Social development plays an important role in our lives.

It is how do we manage to
socialize with our families, peers and to other people around us. To study a childs
development then, we must look not only at the child and their immediate
environment, but also at the interaction of the larger environment as well (Corpuz
et. al, 2010).
As what we have observed from Sheba, she has trust issues. According to her, she
has only one bestfriend who is being with her since elementary. She usually shares
her problems and secrets to her bestfriend. She had friends but just temporarily.
According to Leo Vygotsky (1978), he stated that every function in the childs
development appears twice; first between people (interpsychological) and then
inside the child (intrapsychological). It reflects to Sheba because sometimes she
shared her problems to her friend but sometimes she hides it on her own. She said
once that she is more comfortable when she is alone rather than to be with her
friends.
Sheba stated that sometimes, she is more close to her friends than to her parents.
Like for instance, she expresses her secrets to her friends and not to her parents.
We asked her of what percentage of trust, out of 100 percent, is her family and
friends. According to her, 95% for her family and 93% for her friends. So we inferred
that she has more trust to her friends rather than to her family.
Erikson highlighted the importance of the person resolving a series of conflicts
where interpersonal relationships play an important role. Erikson hypothesized that
an infant will develop trust through interaction with a negative or unresponsive and
unavailable caregiver (Huitt et. al, 2011). Shebas both parents are working so we
inferred that she lacked of attention from her parents since she was a child. When
Sheba needed the attention of her parents, they are not there to guide her because
they are so focused in their works so she seek for somebody who will be her
guardian and will understand her. Then, she found friends and there she found out
that she belonged.
