Whenusingamicrometer,onefullrotationofthebarrelis0.5mm(50onthebarrelscale).
Themicrometerreadsto0.01mmaccuracy.
Verniercalliperscanreadto0.05mmaccuracy.However,itisadvisabletoquotethefigureto0.1mm
accuracy,asthiswillgivealargeruncertainty,whichwillmakecomparisonsinlaterpartsofthequestion
easier.
Ifmeasuringaverysmalldimension,measureseveral"thicknesses"ofit.Remembertodividebythe
numberofthicknessesafterthemeasurement!
Precaution:checkthezeroerroronthemicrometerand/orVerniercallipers.Wipethejawsofthe
micrometertoremovegrease.
