Computer-projection device, word processor
Time: 1 classroom period, 1 computer lab period
Activities:
Classroom Period 1:
1. Students should have studied the appropriate part of grammar to be completed in the lab.
They will complete exercises in the classroom and use the computer activities as a follow
up or test. These can be printed, collected, and graded for language arts class.
Computer Lab Trip 1:
1. Using a computer-projection device students will be shown how to use the appropriate
formatting style or word processing feature needed in the exercise before they begin a
lesson. (ex: bold, italics, underlining, copy and move, etc.)
2. Using the computer projection device show students how to open the appropriate saved

Planets1 Activity Sheet

Problem:
How do the length of year and distance from the sun relate to one another?
Computer Lab:
Have students look up the length of year and distance from the sun for all planets in
the Planets1 database. They can write down this information on the Planets1 student
sheet. Have students create a spreadsheet with the recorded information.
Possible Spreadsheet Results:

Rabbit Population Activity Sheet

Problem:
How would the rabbit population increase if all the rabbits born survived?
Student activity:
Have students create a flow diagram to show how many rabbits would be born if
every rabbit found a mate and produced five baby rabbits. Then how many rabbits
would be born after 6 months, then after 12 months. Take this information to the
computer lab to create a spreadsheet.

Computer Lab:
Have students open a word processing document and create a spreadsheet in the
document with the recorded information. Make a graph from the spreadsheet. Take
back to the classroom to discuss how the amount of sunlight plants receive affect the
growth of the plants.
