Objectives:
Getting used to fundamentals of electromagnetic wave theory
(electro/magnetostatics)
Skills of finding solutions to Maxwells Equations
Understanding applications
Credits: 3
Hours: Mon 1:00-1:50 PM, Wed 3:00-4:50 PM

Grading: Midterm 1 (20%), Midterm 2 (25%), Final (30%), Term Project (15%),
Homeworks (5%), and Participation (5%)
Students will be absolutely graded. Also, first-time and returning students for this

Term Project: Recommended topics for a team-based design and/or analysis project will be
announced later in the course. Each team will be asked for a presentation at the end of the
semester.

Other Policies
On using a microphone: A microphone may not be used (intentionally). Please sit close
to the podium.
On recording: No part of any lecture may be recorded by any electronic medium without
written consent of the lecturer.
On language: All in-class conversations, including questions, are expected to be spoken
in English. Bilingualism is allowed after-hours.
On homework: All homework should be an individual work. Collaboration and
cooperation will be highly discouraged for homework. If we have sufficient evidence of

plagiarism, both an original and copies will be discredited. Solution will not be uploaded.
Please consult with TA for solution.
On participation: There will be frequent in-class questions. Answers such as I dont
know or No idea are not counted as participation.
On exams: All exams will be closed-book. An A4 sized cheat-sheet is allowed for each
exam.
