HISTORY
POLYMEC SL inicio su actividad productiva en 1981.
Dedicada a la fabricacin de perfiles de polister
reforzados con Fibra de vidrio, de carbono o de
basalto por el sistema de pultrusion, nuestros ms
de 25 aos en el mercado garantizan nuestros
productos, tanto en calidad como en servicio.
Nuestro mejor aval es nuestra rpida adaptacin a
las exigencias de nuestros clientes. Nuestra flexibilidad
nos permite ofrecerles una extensa gama de productos,
dependiendo de la consistencia, rigidez o nivel de
corrosin que vayan a soportar los perfiles.
POLYMEC was founded in 1981 and today is

considered one of the main manufacturer of polyester
profiles reinforced with fibreglass, basalt fibre or carbon
fibre by the pultrusion process. Ours profiles have
many industrial applications such as in chemical
processing plants, energy, Bail boat, Automotive,
electrical, construction and others.
Our company meets the requirements of each client.

This premise allows us to offer a large range of product
featuring over 400 different items; depending on
consistency, rigidity and corrosion level the profiles
need bear.

popularidad en muchas aplicaciones industriales.
Se denomina fibra de
carbono a un material de
tipo polimrico formado
por miles de filamentos
de carbono. Es un
material de elevada
resistencia mecnica, con
un mdulo de elasticidad
elevado y una baja
densidad . As mismo
tiene una gran capacidad
de aislamiento trmico,
una elevada resistencia
a las variaciones de
temperatura y tiene
buenas propiedades
ignfugas. Sus aplicaciones son muy extensas, destacando su
papel en la industria aeronutica y automovilstica, al igual que
en barcos y el mundo del ocio y del deporte donde sus propiedades
mecnicas y ligereza son muy importantes.
Fibre glass is a material made from extremely fine fibres of glass.

It is used as a reinforcing agent for many polymer products; the
resulting composite material, properly known as fibre-reinforced
polymer (FRP) or glass-reinforced plastic (GRP), popular name
is "fibreglass". Glass fibres are useful because of their high ratio
of surface area to weight. By trapping air within them, blocks of
glass fibre make good thermal insulation. Humidity is an important
factor in the tensile strength. Moisture is easily adsorbed, and can
worsen microscopic cracks and surface defects, and lessen
tenacity.
Carbon fibre is a material made from consisting of long thin sheets

of graphite-like carbon, packed to form a fibre. It is commonly
used in composite materials such as carbon fibre reinforced
plastic.. It has the highest specific tensile strength of all the
reinforced composite materials, and it has a high strength to weight
ratio and low coefficient of thermal expansion. The density of
carbon fibre is also considerably lower than the density of steel.
Carbon fibre takes the form of several thousand long, thin strands
of material which are mostly composed of carbon atoms.
El proceso de pultrusin
Pultrusion process
Pultrusion is a continuous process of manufacturing

of composite materials with constant cross-section
whereby reinforcing fibres are pulled through a resin,
possibly followed by a separate pre forming system,
and into a heated die, where the resin undergoes
polymerization. Many resin types may be used in
pultrusion including polyester, polyurethane, vinylester
and epoxy. The term pultrusion combines the words,
"pull" and "extrusion". Extrusion is the pushing of
material, such as a billet of aluminium, through a
shaped die. Where as pultrusion, is the pulling of
material, such as fibreglass and resin, through a shaped
die.
La pultrusin es un proceso productivo de conformado

de materiales plsticos termo rgidos para obtener
perfiles de polister reforzado, de forma continua,
sometiendo las materias primas (fibras impregnadas
en resinas) a un arrastre y parado con operaciones
de impregnado, conformado, curado y corte. Este
proceso se caracteriza por un buen acabado superficial.
Entre sus ventajas destacan la alta rigidez y
consistencia de los productos y su versatilidad de
formas, una alta velocidad de produccin y la
posibilidad de obtener grandes longitudes.

un material inmune a la
radiacin nuclear y es totalmente reciclable.
Se considera como resina a las sustancias lquidas

que sufren un proceso de polimerizacin
(agrupacin de molculas de bajo peso monmeros- en otras de mayor peso) dando lugar
a productos slidos. Existen resinas naturales y
sintticas, siendo stas ltimas las encargadas de
dar consistencia a las fibras en el proceso de
pultrusin.

Basalt fibre is made from extremely fine fibres of basalt. It has

better physic mechanical properties than fibreglass, but being
significantly cheaper than carbon fibre. It is used as a fireproof
textile in the aerospace and automotive industries and can also
be used as a composite to produce products such as tripods.
Basalt products have no toxic re-action with air or water, are noncombustible and explosion proof. When in contact with other
chemicals they produce no chemical reactions that may damage
health or the environment. Basalt replaces almost all applications
of asbestos and has three times its heat insulation properties.

Synthetic resins are materials with similar properties

to natural resinsviscous liquids capable of
hardening. They are typically manufactured by
esterification or soaping of organic compounds.

Las barras corrugadas estn fabricadas con fibra de

vidrio pultrusionada. El producto terminado resulta
totalmente inerte, resistente a la corrosin y a los
alcalinos. Pueden ser utilizadas como una alternativa
vlida a las barras redondas de acero inoxidable, a
las revestidas con resinas de epoxi o galvnicamente
protegidas, y al hierro corrugado.

Encuentra su idoneidad en todos los elementos de
hormign en los que se pueda verificar la corrosin
de la armadura de acero. Tambin en todas aquellas
situaciones en las que son empleadas barras de acero
inoxidable, as como todos aquellos elementos de
hormign en los que el cemento presenta una seccin
fina y donde no sea posible realizar un recubrimiento
adecuado, como en los elementos de arquitectura
prefabricados.
FRP rebars are suitable for all elements of concrete

in which the corrosion of steel reinforcement is present
by chloride ion or chemical attacks and where currently
stainless steel, epoxy coated or galvanised rebar are
used. FRP rebars match to thin concrete section as
well and where adequate concrete cover is not available
such as in architectural precast elements.

Cnicos o cilndricos se adaptan a mltiples usos
como pueden ser: Farolas, semforos, sealizacin,
decoracin urbana, sostn de lneas elctricas y
telefnicas, mstiles para banderas y anuncios
publicitarios, as como postes para redes protectoras.
La utilizacin de la fibra de vidrio hace que el poste
sea ligero y se pueda transportar fcilmente y manejar
a mano, no requiera ningn tratamiento superficial o
barnizado peridico con lo cual el producto resulta
sumamente econmico respecto al acero, al aluminio
o a la madera.
These tubes represent one of the most common and

classic applications of the reinforced fibreglass profiles,
able to bear high mechanical strains and harsh weather
conditions.
Conical or cylindrical, they adapt to multiple usages
such as: street lights, traffic lights, road signs, urban
decoration, supports for electrical and telephone lines,
flags and advertising poles, as well as poles for safety
net.
The use of fibreglass makes the poles more lightweight
so it can be transported and handle easily , do not
require any special surface treatment or periodic
coating with which the product is extremely economic
respect to steel, aluminium or wood.
