Option 3 Style Journal

Lanier, for his part, didnt want to be alone. He started walking - through the Mission, through
the Castro, all the way up to Haight Street and over to Golden Gate Park. None of the people he
saw left a mark on him, though; all he could think about was Curtis. Curtis, his cousin, who was
also not his cousin. Curtis, who was, however, Jackie Ishidas uncle. Curtis, his first and best
example of what a man was supposed to be; his debt; his reason for doing all he did. Curtis,

whose real father- unlike his own- was there right in front of him, but also just outside of his
reach(Revoyr, Southland, P295-296).
This last paragraph of Chapter thirty showed Laniers feeling. After he knew that Curtis was
not his cousin, he felt lost and downcast. The author used walking to show Laniers lonely. Using
four different places names to show that Lainer walked really a long way and he thought really a
long time. And None of the people he saw left a mark on him, shows how lonely and how
depressed he was. He felt like lost an important treasure in his life but no one cared. Then the
author explained why he felt sad, because of Curtis. The author used four sentence to show that
Curtis had no relationship with Lanier anymore. And using three images or identities which
arecousin first and best example of what a man was supposed to beand real father to show
how important Curtis is to Lanier. Then the last sentence, but also just outside of his reach
showed how big this blow was. The author was talented, I thought she really knew how to catch
the readers heart. I felt sad after read this paragraph, it was very impressive.
