The Impact of Pets on Human Health and Psychological WellBeing: Fact,
Friction, or Hypothesis? The article entitled pets effect on human health and psychological was written by Harold Herzog in 2011. This article is about the effect of pets on the physical and mental health of their owners. The study found the pets enhance the owners health, sense of psychological well-being, and longevity. There are positive effects accrue from interacting with animals. In this review, we would like to highlight several point regarding the effect of pets on physical and mental health based on the article. Firstly, it is stated in the article that having a pets has many psychological and physical benefits, and one of these is by relieving stress and blood pressure. Being able to care for an animal, or having a pet snuggle with you, can help you feel better, and reduce your blood pressure and stress levels. We agree with the writer because spending time a few minutes with your pet makes you feel better and reduces pain. Next, the study also found pet owners have higher self-esteem, more positive moods, more ambition, greater life satisfaction, and lower levels of loneliness. However, people with pets are generals higher self-esteem, more positive mood and less lonely than those who dont have pets. This parallel to the article by Chris Woolstoon (2010) which discovered that pet companionship can help those who are lonely feel a connection with another life. Finally, it is undeniable living with a pet makes for a happier and longer life. The ownership of a pet can also lead to increases in physical activity and facilities the development of social contact, which may enhance both physiological and psychological human health in a more indirect manner. From the article living with an animal can improve human health, psychological well-being, and longevity. In conclusion, that companion animals can have positive value for people and, as such, have the ability to contribute significantly to our health and quality of lives. Therefore, we recommend to government launch the campaign to raise awareness of the benefits pets bring to humans. This is because pets bring joy and happiness to humans. I also recommend parents to encourage their children to loving animal because animal give positive benefit to your children.
