Community

Engaged Learning (CEL) is

neither an add-on nor a diversion from
the curriculum. It is a powerful approach
to teaching that provides students with
authentic learning experiences in which
they learn academic content in a real-life,
real-world context.

What is Community Engaged Learning?

Educational method which engages young people in

service to their communities as a means of enriching

their academic learning, promoting personal growth,
and helping them to develop the skills needed for
productive citizenship
A teaching method allowing teacher licensure
candidates to apply the knowledge gained in
classroom for the purpose of enriching learning
experiences and to bridge theory and practice in
learning about the educational profession
