The Revd Richard Lloyd OW (89) ‘The congregation remains standing during the recession | ‘There will be a retiring collection in aid of two charities: THE RHEMA PARTNERSHIP ‘This charity, established by the Revd Richard Lloyd OW, supports a network of churches in South India that exist to transform lives in the poorest communities “The Rhema Partnership's experience is that the local church is best placed to provide support and opportunities for the poorest communities. Local churches support the children in greatest need through school with sponsorships and after school programmes, providing extra tuition and hot meals five daysa week. They also support disabled children through a dedicated school for those with disabilities and provide medical care through a medical centre and mobile clinic. Your support is hugely valued this Christmas. ‘Thank you www.themapartnership.orguk THE ST MARY-LE-BOW YOUNG HOMELESS PROJECT ‘A small independent charity, supported by the Parochial Church Council and especially the City among others, Itaccommodates up to 10 young people (aged 18 to 24) from London's streets and hostels in safe flats rented cheaply from the Peabody Trust. The Project also works with up to 30 young people, mostly ex-offenders, training them for employment ‘The charity helps them to recover, provides training in life skills and budgeting, educates them for work and prepares them for an independent life in flats of their own Young homeless people have great difficulty in securing employment, offen due toa lack of work experience anda fixed address. For young ex-offenders, it isa criminal record that prevents them from getting a job. St Mary-le-Bow’s Young Homeless Project is working with Pret i Manger to break this unfortunate cycle by offering its young people the opportunity ofa three-month apprenticeship in one of the Pret a Manger outlets.
