SEARCH FOR TB CASES

TB still exists in this country, and can affect anyone. The good news is that once you get a correct
diagnosis and get on the right treatment, you will start to get better.
With this background, SSG together with the District Health Directorates for Kwahu Afram Plains
North and Kwahu Afram Plains South embarked on TB Case search.
The team made follow ups to the houses of person who have reported to the hospital or clinic with
cough and to clients on TB treatment to screen their immediate contacts (Family members and close
friends) for TB. Through this process, 37 people were screened, with 5 suspected cases, out of that 2
were conrmed as positive.
They are currently on treatment and we shall continue to monitor them to ensure they adhere strictly
to the treatment guideline.

We couldn't have done this without the support of the National Tuberculosis Control Programme. Our

SSG HOLDS PRE PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE

MEETINGS
Genuine democratic elections are a requisite condition for democratic governance, because they
are the vehicle through which the people of a country freely express their will, on a basis
established by law, as to who shall have the legitimacy to govern in their name and in their
interests.
As part of activities to deepen civil society participation in governance and to promote issue based
electoral campaign, Socioserve-Ghana (SSG) intends to hold Parliamentary debates in 7
constituencies ahead of the December 7, elections under its Promoting Electoral Integrity in
Election; 2016 and Beyond (PEIG) project funded by the European Union.
To ensure transparency and ownership of the process, SSG organized constituency based pre
debate meetings with Parliamentary Aspirants, political party aspirants and other stakeholders to
discuss the modalities and code of conduct of conduct for the debate. The meeting was used to
also discuss security details for the debate.
The constituencies are Nkwanta North in the Volta Region; Asuogyaman, Lower Manya Krobo in
the Eastern Region; Cape Coast South and Effutu in the Central Region; and the Sefwi
Akontombra and Tarkwa Nsuaem, in the Western Region.
Our sincere thanks goes to the NCCE, Inter Party Dialogue Committees for their
collaboration and support.
