Maruti Suzuki : 100960002243800

Nexa showroom- Extraordinary, Branding, passenger car

Suzuki put S logo instead of M logo on all the vehicles. Currently Suzuki have 56%
of shares and whole control of MSIL. Kept name for Indian emotional connect
SHVS essentially stands for Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki. It is a mild hybrid
system that incorporates an integrated starter generator (ISG) that offers the
engine power assistance using the motor and is capable of achieving power
regeneration.
Maruti SHVS found in Ciaz and Ertiga- Mild hybrid(not full like Prius,Chevy,BMW)
The car just uses a starter Motor generator and a operate battery , dedicated to power the
starter generator.

The problem is that the Motor is an alternator which requires AC power to run and it
generates only AC power. But the battery is purely a DC based system. So it requires a
Inverter ( DC to AC and AC to DC ) like the we use in our homes as UPS.
So a hybrid car can be taken analogous to our home UPS .
All this is done to increase mileage and to travel towards Green energy. The thing is that the
system does not comes for free cost. The customer has to pay extra money for it .

Many Indian car buyers do realize this that Fiat products may be better than Maruti but still

they will go for Maruti and thats why its the market leader in car segment (at least till date).
Let me explain a few reasons for why many of we Indians wont go for fiat even if we think it
to be a better product:

Fiat starts its products at around 5 lakh INR, while Maruti sells more than 25k
cars below that price (Alto, Wagnor etc). So, Lack of choice for mass
market i.e. entry level customers.
A lot has been spoken about service network. So heres a comparison as taken
from same website for two companies:

So, not only during emergencies but also during regular overhauls, closeness of service
center matters for most car owners who prefer to drive the vehicle themselves.

Most cars in top-10 selling cars in India are at price range below 67 lakhs. In
this segment, most customers prefer value for money and only a few want more
style/power or engineering marvel sort of product. So, Maruti offers them just
that. Despite having lower power for same engine of two comparable products of
maruti & fiat, Maruti compensates it in terms of fuel efficiency, price or extra
features.
Talking of safety, it is very difficult for a common buyer to distinguish the two
cars w.r.t. safety. The manufacturers are obviously going to boast about their
own product and the star ratings can always be manipulated. The dealers hardly
ever provide satisfactory reply when talked about safety (except the rubbish like
air bags and ABS etc which buyer already knows about). So most buyers will
prefer to rely upon their own driving skills for their safety and few features like
Airbags, ABS, etc and ignore the basic design aspect in many cases.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno automatic transmission is the better car which is built with the best
features
Baleno key features
ABS with EBD improves vehicle control and prevents wheel locking and skidding.
Infotainment System The Baleno is equipped with a state-of-the-art SmartPlay
Infotainment uses Siri to make calls, send and receive message.
Projector Headlamps Powerful Projector Headlamps with black and chrome design,
fitted with Daytime Running Lamps which give it a high-tech look.
Sporty Exteriors
The new Baleno is nothing like the previous Maruti Suzuki Baleno sedan and looks every bit
expensive when seen from the side.
V-shaped grille
The projector headlamps, LED DRLs, V-Shaped radiator grille that gets chrome accent and
the body-colored front bumper makes the front appealing.
Contemporary design
The protruded rear gets to be one of the highlights of the design, rendering the hatchback a
contemporary resemblance.

Maruti Ignis Vs Ritz

By Motor Trend Staff | 19 November,2016

After many speculations regarding the launch of Suzuki Ignis in our market now it is confirmed that the car will
be launched early next year in our market. When launched the Ignis will be sold through the NEXA dealerships
of Maruti and will be placed below the premium NEXA offering Baleno which means it will be priced on the
premium side yet affordable than the Baleno. The car will be positioned as a replacement of Ritz, However, the
Ritz had never been a popular car in our market and now has been discontinued, making way for the Ignis. Will
Indians accept another tall boy car from Maruti at a premium price and what new can we expect this time is
what this article is all about as we compare the upcoming Ignis with the outgoing Ritz.
The pricing for the Ritz starts from INR 4.31lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi) and the Ignis is expected to be priced
slightly higher over Ritz. At almost similar price, the Ignis is surely a better product than Ritz as it looks smart,
offers more space and features and most importantly it will be available with AMT gearbox in both versions. The
tried and tested petrol and diesel engine are capable of offering good performance without compromising on
fuel efficiency and that has worked really well for the company till now and expect Ignis to be no different.

New Maruti Ignis Variants and Features

28 November,2016

Maruti is all set to launch their new Ignis next year in our market which will be placed below Baleno in their
premium Nexa dealership chain. The Ignis is likely to share its engine line-up and features with the Baleno and is
expected to be available in four variants with similar nomenclature same as Baleno. So, the said variants will be
Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. What all features in which variant will be available with what choice of engine is
what this article is all about. We detail you all possible features to be available in Ignis variant wise along with the
pricing gap it may have with the Baleno which though shares a different segment but will have similar engines
and features.

Upcoming Maruti NEXA launches in 2017

07 December,2016

Maruti did not launch many new cars in 2016 as their major launches got postponed to 2017. The latest launch
plan of Maruti is basically the expansion of their Nexa model line-up. Currently the Nexa line-up includes
Baleno and S-Cross only out of which the Baleno is keeping the dealerships alive. So in order to expand the
Nexa dealership chain, Maruti has planned to bring in more models to this chain which will be launched next
year. Which all cars will be launched next year in Nexa is what this article is all about.
Maruti Ignis
This is one big project of Maruti which will be placed as a replacement of Ritz in our market. The car will be
positioned below Baleno in the Nexa dealerships and it will be the most affordable car in the Nexa line-up. The
box shaped styling of this car is its USP and it is expected to become the safest car in its class. This car will debut
with the first in class AMT gearboxes for its petrol as well as diesel engine. It will share its1.2L, 83bhp petrol and
1.3L, 74bhp diesel engine with Baleno but with optional AMT gearboxes. The Ignis will have all premium features
as well which will make it a great value for money car. Expect the launch in January 2017. (More on the
Ignis here)

Maruti Baleno RS
The Baleno RS will be the more performance oriented version of the standard Baleno. The RS will go the
manual way and will come standard with the 5-speed manual gearbox. The Baleno RS will debut with an all
new 1.0L 110bhp, 3-cylinder Boosterjet petrol engine which is set to make it the most powerful hatchback in
India. That will be possible because of its light weight which will give it the highest power to weight ration in its
class. Apart from the engine, all black theme inside, new alloy wheels and new bumpers will differentiate the RS
from the standard Baleno. The RS will be launched soon after the launch of Ignis next year. Expect the pricing to
be around a lakh over the top variant of standard Baleno.

Maruti S-Cross Facelift

This was technically the first product to be launched in Nexa dealerships but it has never been a major crowd
puller. That is the reason why next year Maruti will launch the facelifted version of S-Cross which has been
unveiled in international markets. The Crossover will get new front and rear styling which includes new front
bumper with large radiator grille and new set of projector lamps. The rear design will also see change in tail
lamps and bumper while there will be an inclusion of new features inside as well including a new MID and

dashboard layout. Internationally the S-Cross is offered with petrol engines as well but keeping our market and
current demand of S-Cross in mind, expect it to be offered with diesel engines only. This will continue to have
1.3L, 89bhp and 1.6L,118bhp diesel engines. The launch will take place somewhere around mid of next year.

Maruti Ciaz Facelift

Next year, Maruti is set to launch the facelifted version of their mid-size sedan, Ciaz and the car is very much
expected to join the Nexa family which currently retails from normal dealerships. The Ciaz facelift will majorly
see exterior changes with minor additions inside. The Ciaz is most likely to get a new and more powerful 1.5L,
100bhp petrol engine to take on its rivals however it is expected to retain its 1.3, 89bhp diesel engine since it
enables this car to come under FAME government scheme resulting in price relaxation being passed directly to
the end customers. Both engines will come standard with 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed auto gearbox
is expected with the petrol unit. There will be slight increase in the price of this car.

Indian manufacturer Maruti Suzuki managed to sell 23,320 units of their immensely popular Alto hatchback,
making it the undisputed bestseller by miles in November this year. The 2nd bestselling car in the list was the
Maruti Dzire which sold 17,218 units last month, short of the Alto by a solid 6,100 units. In fact, as you scour
through the list, you see that 6 of the top 10 cars are unsurprisingly from Maruti Suzuki. The remaining Maruti
models including the WagonR, Swift, Baleno and Celerio occupy the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th positions on list
respectively. The Hyundai Grand i10 managed to beat the Celerio to the number 6 spot by shifting 11,059 units
last month. In fact, the Grand i10 came awfully close to the Baleno in terms of sales, as the Baleno managed to
sell just 34 more cars! The Renault Kwid secured the 8th spot on the list thanks to its sales that numbered 7,847
units. Even more interesting however, is the fact that there is a new name in the list, the Tata Tiago. This vehicle,
which we thought was great right from the time we first drove it, is clearly showing that Tata Motors is now on
the right track. The Tiago singlehandedly contributed to a massive 47% (by selling 6,008 units) to the sales of
the Tata Motors passenger vehicle division.

Maruti Ignis vs Maruti Swift vs Tata Tiago vs Renault Kwid

17 September,2016

After many speculations regarding the launch of Suzuki Ignis in our market now its confirmed that the car will be
launched early next year in our market. When launched the Ignis will be sold through the NEXA dealerships of
Maruti and will be placed below the premium NEXA offering Baleno which means it will end up landing in the
territory of other hatchbacks. The car could be launched with an aggressive starting price which means it will
make it a rival of its sibling Swift as well as other successful hatchbacks which will be priced in the same price
bracket. This includes small cars like the Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago and the Hyundai Grand i10. Which one is
worth going for? Let us jump on to facts and figures to find out.
Verdict
The choices are pretty clear; if your focus is only on petrol engine at a very low price than the fight gets tight
between the Tiago and Kwid. Of-course the Kwid looks unique but the powerful engine and long list of features
favor the Tiago. Then comes the other options which include Grand i10 and Swift which still remain the
segment benchmarks in many ways.

But what about the Ignis? We have done this comparo to see how the Ignis fits in the crowded hatch segment
and here the Ignis comes across as an all-rounder. The SUV like looks plus coupled with the ease of driving
thanks to the AMT gearbox, means the Ignis would turn out to be the cat among the pigeons.

Demonetisation Has No Effect on Maruti November Sales

By Pranav Divakar | 02 December,2016

Undeniably, the hottest topic all over the news for the past fortnight was the demonetisation scheme where the
government made the old 500 and 1000 rupee notes worthless in order to crack down on black money
among other reasons.
The aftermath of this surgical strike in the finance world left several car makers in a tizzy with their monthly
sales figures plummeting. Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki seems to have been immune to everything that
transpired recently. The company sold a total of 1,35,550 units in November 2016, growing 12.2% when
compared with the same period of last fiscal. This includes 1,26,325 units in the domestic market and 9,225
units of exports. Maruti Suzuki had sold a total of 1,20,824 units in November 2015.
In the month of November this year, the only cars from the Maruti Suzuki model range that showed a decline in
sales were the Swift Dzire Tour (-10.3%) and to a minor extent, the Omni and Eeco (-1.6%) and the Ciaz (-1.4%).
All other vehicle groups in the Maruti fleet registered increases between 8.1% and 98%. Exports of the company
took a dip from 10,225 units in November 2015 to 9,225 units in November this year, which is a drop of 9.8%.
Domestic sales of passenger vehicles, on the other hand, rose by 14.1%. All things considered, we expect to see
the automotive sector returning to normalcy within the last quarter of this financial year.

November 2016 Car Sales: Demonetisation Effect

By Pranav Divakar | 05 December,2016

Nobody expected November 2016 to be a good month for car sales in light of the demonetisation of 500 and
1000 rupee notes by the Indian government. On the contrary, several companies actually registered decent
amounts of growth this month. Read on for more details.
Maruti Suzuki sold over 1.26 lakhs units in November 2016, and when compared to the 1.1 lakh units sold in the
same month of 2015, that is a rise of 14.2%. Only the exports of the company took a hit and went down by

9.8%. The Baleno and the more recently launched Vitara Brezza were the products most responsible for driving
sales skyward.
The combined domestic wholesales and exports of Ford India grew to 21,004 vehicles in November in
comparison to 17,189 vehicles in November 2015. This is a growth of 22.2%. Although the number of vehicles
sold in the domestic market went down from 8,773 units in November 2015 to 6,876 units in the same month
this year, the units exported during the same period shot up from 8,416 vehicles to 14,128 vehicles.
Volkswagen India was another manufacturer which pulled off a truly stellar sales performance last month. The
company sold 4,014 units in November 2016, a rise of 106.7% from the 1,942 units sold in November last year.
The primary reason for this massive jump is unquestionably the launch of their new compact sedan, the VW
Ameo.
Hyundai Motor India registered a modest growth of 4.4% by selling 40,016 vehicles in November 2016,
compared to just over 38,000 units during the same month in 2015. The company also held on to its title of
being the largest exporter in India for the last decade. Thanks to vehicles such as the Kwid and Duster, French
car maker Renault also pulled through this month having recorded a sales growth of 23%.
Tata Motors passenger and commercial vehicle total sales (including exports) in November 2016 were at
38,900 vehicles, flat over the 38,918 vehicles sold in November 2015. However, the domestic sales of the
manufacturer declined by 6% to 33,274 units. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has been on a spree of launching
new vehicles such as the Innova Crysta and the new Fortuner (which incidentally has garnered over 6,000
bookings) and, as a result, the company has posted an increase in sales of 10% in the domestic market in
November 2016 as compared to November last year. Last month, this Japanese car maker managed to sell
11,309 vehicles.
On the other hand, both Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) and Mahindra & Mahindra registered a decline in sales
last month. While Honda sales dipped from 14,712 units in November last year to 8,029 units last month (a
drop of 45%), Mahindra reported a slump of 22% from 41,590 vehicles in November 2015 to 32,499 vehicles in
the same month this year.
In conclusion, the vast majority of car manufacturers in India continued to post a rising number in sales despite
the demonetization drive. Keep a watch on the figures in December 2016 as they promise to be interesting

Let me add more insights. Let us look at the current numbers of Maruti Suzuki
Indiaand Hyundai Motor India and then discuss on how the Korean Giant can out-do the
Indian Nippon King.

Details from Hyundai Korean Balance sheet filing

Based on above details its clear that Maruti Suzuki is 2.5 times bigger than Hyundai, With
Lion share of 47% in Indian Markets, Currently Maruti is the leader, Hyundai is second

largest at 17%. So the gap is huge. ( Its something as similar as the Dominant position Asian
paints holds in India).
MSIL sells more than a lac cars in India , while Hyundai sells around 40,000.

Chart Courtesy: Team-Bhp.

MSIL and Hyundai runs at 95% capacity which is phenomenal for a automobile Company.
Other players in India don't cross 60%. Both Sell almost all the cars they manufacture,
which clearly shows a good demand trend. If Hyundai India can convince their Korean
Bosses and add around 1 lakh capacity every 2 years and track the progress, they can fill the
huge gap.
Maruti has dominated the A,B and C segments, While Hyundai concentrate on fewer
segments. In 2014 MSIL announces a plan Maruti Suzuki 2.0 , setting a target of reaching
2 million in production by 2020. With Giants like Padma Bhushan Shri R. C. Bhargava as
Chairman MSIL is backed with great leadership from India and Japan. Apart from their
existing Manser and Gurgaon plants, the Gujarat plant under construction will add more
volumes.
Hyundai is much bigger than Maruti and Suzuki worldwide, It has the ability to bring in
Technology and financial power. Their journey from 1998 in India till date is just fantastic.
MSIL power lies with Brand recall, Excellent service network and great Supply chain
strategies. Hyundai can definitely outdo MSIL, but it will be a long and tough journey. MSIL
2.0 has just taken off, See the cars like Breeze, Baleno and S cross. Right now, its
unstoppable.
By the way, here is the list of top 10 cars sold in July and see how many are from MSIL and
Hyundai. [10]

Thanks.
I think that there are lot of intricacies involved as to why Maruti Suzuki remains a number 1
car company in India and the most important of them is all this that it has done a very good
job connecting to the Indian people.
One of the ways it does this is through its advertisements.
You can observe from the below links as to how their ads touch every common man in
India. They are something that people can relate to, have already lived and so can make a
personal connection with it.
On the other hand we have ads from other international car makers which are actually quite
good, but then they are just not what the Indian people want. When they see them, its not
something they can connect to.
From this ad, it makes you wonder where can you find roads and buildings such as this in
India. I know they obviously didn't shoot the ad on Indian roads but then they can make it a
little more realistic and relative.
So I guess this is where, among many other aspects as to why Maruti will continue to
dominate the Indian car market for a very long time to come.
Other aspects but not limited to:
Affordability

Easy service
cheaper car parts

Reasons for success

1. Efficient distribution The first principle of economics is that is if you generate demand,
you should have the availability of the product to cater to the demand. There are many
distribution centres of Maruti within any city in India. Even in the remotest of corner, there will
be a Maruti sales outlet. Coupled with the ever increasing service centres for the company, this
company seems to have the structure to succeed. Maruti Suzuki has the highest number of
service centres across the country. Maruti seems to have an edge over its competitors in this
aspect.
2. Product range- The Company has a large number of products under its basket. Right from the
affordable Alto to the high end SX4, the company seems to have it all. The company through its
cars like A-Star, wagon R, Swift, & Swift Dzire focuses on the middle class whose purchasing
power is rising by the day. Also, the yet to be launched X-Alpha has generated a lot of interest
among the auto lovers.
3. Marketing strategy of cannibalization In marketing, cannibalization refers to decrease in sales
volume or market share of one of the product due to introduction of a new product by the same
producer. Maruti-Suzuki believes in the concept of cannibalization. For instance, if the
customers budget is on a lower side, he or she may purchase an Alto instead of a Wagon-R.
Although the volumes of Wagon-R are hit, the sales still remain with Maruti. So Maruti ensures
that the customer instead of going to a Tata motors or Hyundai Motors or any of its competitors
stays with Maruti-Suzuki
4. Shift of the co. towards diesel oriented cars This has been a strategic decision taken by the
company. 60% of the cars manufactured by the company are of diesel engines. The variants of
Swift, Swift Dzire & SX4 diesel variants are very successful. Petrol in India is now decontrolled. That means that the OMCs like BPCL, IOC & HPCL are free to decide the rates of
the petrol based on the rupee-dollar fluctuations. Diesel is not de-controlled as India is a diesel
economy. Decontrolling diesel or no govt interference to vary diesel prices has again a direct link
with inflation & probably govt vote banks for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls
5. Focus on rural markets Currently, about 26% of Marutis sales come from the rural India.
After the 2009 economic meltdown, Maruti Suzuki started concentrating more on the rural
markets. Campaigns like Ghar Ghar Mein Maruti and Mera Sapna Meri Maruti targeted to
the rural India have augured well for the company.
6. Long Association with India The company has been associated with the Indian population for
more than 40 years. Right from the now defunct in terms of production, but ever popular Maruti
800 to high end vehicles the company seems to have established a strong bond with the Indian

population. Younger India in their budding years has travelled a lot in this car with their parents.
So they want to take the legacy forward.
7. Excellent mileage, focussed advertisements concentrating on product features like k-series
engine augur well for the company. Maruti is one of the first companies in India to focus on
advertising the engine specifications. i.e. the K-series engine. The advertisements of Maruti
Suzuki focuses on Maruti being a value buy

SWOT analysis of Maruti Suzuki

By Hitesh Bhasin August 6, 2016

Maruti Suzuki is the market leader in India and has an amazing brand equity. Maruti is known
for the service it provides and is synonymous with Maruti 800 the longest running small car in
India. Here is a SWOT of maruti suzuki, its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

Strengths in the SWOT analysis of Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Udyog limited (MUL) is in a leadership position in the market with a

market share of 48.74
Major strength of MUL is having largest network of dealers and after sales
service centers in the country.
Good promotional strategy is adopted by MUL to transfer its thoughts to the
people about its products.
Maruti Suzuki recorded highest number of domestic sales with 9,66,447 units
from 7,65,533 units in the previous fiscal. It recently attained the 10million
domestic sales mark.
Strong Brand Value and Loyal Customer Base are big strengths for MUL
There are around 15 vehicles in Maruti Product portfolio. Has good product
lines with good fuel efficiency like Maruti Swift, Diesel, Alto etc
Alto still beats the small car segment with highest number of sales
MUL is the first automobile company to start second hand vehicle sales
through its True-value entity.
MUL has good market share and hence its after sales service is a major
revenue contributor.

Weaknesses in the SWOT analysis of Maruti Suzuki

Low interior quality inside the cars when compared to quality players like
Hyundai and other new foreign players like Volkswagen,Nissan etc.
Government intervention due to having share in MUL.
Younger generations started getting a great affinity towards new foreign
brands
The management and the companys labor unions are not in good terms. The
recent strikes of the employees have slowed down production and in turn affecting
sales.
Maruti hasnt proved itself in SUV segment like other players.

Opportunities in the SWOT analysis of Maruti Suzuki

MUL has launched its LPG version of Wagon R and it was a good move
simultaneously
MUL can start R&D on electric cars for a much better substitute of the fuel.
Marutis cervo 600 has a huge potential in tapping the middle class segment
and act as a strong threat to Nano
New DZire from Maruti will capture the market share and expected to create
the same magic as Maruti Esteem(currently not available)
Export capacity of the company is giving new hopes in American and UK
markets
Economic growth of the country is constantly increasing and the government
is working hard to increase the gdp to double digit.

Threats in the SWOT analysis of Maruti Suzuki

MUL recently faced a decline in market share from its 50.09% to 48.09 % in
the previous year(2011)
Major players like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata has lost its market share due
to many small players like Volkswagen- polo. Ford has shown a considerable
increase in market share due to its Figo.
Tata Motors recent launches like Nano 2012, Indigo e-cs are imposing major
threats to its respective competitors segment
China may give a good competition as they are also planning to enter into
Indian car segment
Launch of Hyundais H800 may result in the decline of Alto sales
