F = Initial dilution ratio
D = Final dilution ratio to which pulp will settle or w / s at which you want to discharge pulp from
thickener.
R = Settling rate in mm per hour.

Feed = 25% solids
Discharge = 75 % solids
R = 100 mm/hr

4) A 1000 metric tons of iron ore contain 45% Fe, 45% of which is in the form of magnetitie, and 55% is
in the form of hematite
a) calculate % magnetite in the ore
b) calculate % hematite in the ore
After magnetic separation, 80% of the magnetite and 20% of the hematite reported as magnetic
concentrate;
c) calculate total Fe in the concentrate
d) calculate % Fe recovery

diameter of the mill is 10 ft, what is the percent ball loading?
7) A 5,500 tons of final concentrate have 12% moisture was stock piled for shipment. After a week, the
concentrate was found to have 8.35% moisture, what is the weight of the final concentrate?
8) Initially, the weight of the filter cake was 300.56 grams. After drying, the final weight of the cake was
283.90 grams. What is the percent moisture of the cake?
