PCC agenda items for Dec. Jan. to be considered via email response.

1. Will the district re-evaluate the minimum grade that PAP students need to maintain to
stay in the PAP class? The district standard for the CBAs, Benchmark tests,
and STAAR-EOC tests is 85% for all PAP students. Why is the minimum grade so much
lower (students need to maintain 74% or higher to stay in these classes)? Students
can stay in the PAP courses if they maintain a minimum of 74% each six weeks but
the district expects them to earn at least 85% on state and district tests. Can the
expectations be re-aligned?
2. Regarding inclement weather days, it is understood that HEB has a policy of not
announcing/ confirming that school will be operating on normal schedule (as was
posted on the Facebook page):
HEB ISD will have school Tuesday, Dec. 10 on the normal schedule. Because we have
had so many days away from school we are posting this short announcement.
However, it is our process that we only post announcements when there is a change
in school schedules, not when school is on a regular schedule. We want to alleviate
any confusion so we thought it best to post tonight.
Why is it the general policy to not post confirmation announcements? Clear and
prompt communication allows parents, employees, and students to plan accordingly,
especially when nearby schools have closed classes.
3. In the November PCC questions, question 1 addresses priority teacher designation.
Please help clarify the following, What data from STAAR is looked at in order to
make this designation. Is it snapshot students for each teacher, or all students?
4. Now that D. B. has retired, could we please retire his energy reminders? A simple,
Faculty and Staff, reminder to turn off all non-essential electric devices would be
sufficient!
(Note from Dee McNosky. We need to find out if this is still a required
practice. I suggest we can just ask that question. Is this practice still required?)
5.

Currently the long-term program of AEP (SOS) is not receiving CBAs from the Testing
Center in the district. Due to the fact that these students are assigned to 30, 60, 90,
or 120 days attendance should we be receiving testing material from the home
campus? Please clarify the procedure.

6. Because gradebook was tested at the junior high level last year, and found to be
lacking, why are we still being asked to use the program that continues to be a
burden and does not meet our needs? Not only is it a problem for teachers and
administrators, parents are also having difficulties with it. People who need access
to information either do not have access or cannot print. How can we PDSA this and
make it work?
If it is a cost issue, have we considered making some other adjustments that might
meet the discrepancy? For instance, printing check stubs is extremely costly and
since they are available on-line, we could save thousands of dollars by stopping this
practice or making it optional.
7. Many teachers at my school are feeling more physically and mentally stressed this
school year. I dont think anyone realizes the amount of paper and data we are
required to work with, IN ADDITION to our regular, PLAN DO STUDY ACT in the
teachers day. Can the District send out an ANONYMOUS staff survey and try to do
something to help with this problem before we lose great teachers to other districts

or professions? I saw on the District website that a parent survey was offered. I
would feel better if I had a way to express my concerns ANONYMOUSLY without my
evaluator/supervisor knowing. It would be nice if we could affect some change before
the school year is over.
8. Is there confidential data regarding the EAP? How many teachers have used it this
year? Do teachers know about it?
9. Is there a way that we can relieve some of the stress experienced by dedicated
teachers at the end of each 6 weeks? We are finalizing grades and putting in
comment codes, analyzing data from multiple district tests, filling out data analysis
reports for principals, attending meetings to go over the data for each subject tested,
and attending curriculum previews all at the same time. This is especially
challenging for elementary schools with self-contained classes. Teachers are
attending multiple previews, giving multiple tests, and filling out multiple data
analysis reports for the different subjects they teach. And today, Monday, we just
found out we are responsible for participating in a book study with an assignment
due on Friday.
10. What is the procedure for replacing outdated items on a campus? An example is our
water fountains. They are rusted metal and an eye sore. They should have been
replaced a while ago but have not been.
11. Could the district look into the procedure of sharing CBA and benchmark scores with
teacher names attached? Is it necessary for every teacher to see every other
teachers test score in the district? Can there be a need to know level of access
developed? (Lydia Scozzari)
(Information from previous question)
Each
teacher has access only to their own students data within Edugence. Each
principal can see teacher data on Edugence for their teachers only. The
district report, which reflects all teachers, is created by the assessment
office and uploaded in Sharepoint for principal and district administrator
information.

Some Dept Heads have full access and can pull up all teachers in all grades,
in all schools. So the information received above is not correct.

12. Will HEB considered adding JROTC to the district, possibly at the new tech
center?
