Ana
Mr. Sta. Ana practically grew up in a church his father
pastored where his musical talents, as a child, were honed.
After highschool, he decided to pursue his musical career by
going to the UP College of Music, Diliman, where he studied
Composition under the tutelage of world-renowned composers such
as Dr. Jonas Baes and Dr. Chino Toledo. He also studied choral
conducting and choral singing under the batons of Prof. Eudy
Palaruan, Prof. Janet Sabas-Aracama of the UP Concert Chorus and
Prof. Mark Anthony Carpio of the UP Madrigal Singers. During his
stay thereat, he also joined a contemporary chorale ensemble, the
Auit Vocal Chamber Ensemble and a theatre group, the UP
Repertory Company.
Some of his major works that were premiered at the UP
College of Music and Philippine Highschool for the Arts include
Define, a solo piece for a B-Flat Clarinet, Panaghoy, music for
Solo Soprano, Violin, Trombone and Snare Drum, Santatlo, an
electornically-produced music, and Aawit si Bathala, a piece for a
16-voice choir.
Today, he serves as a musical director at the Taal United
Methodist Church in Bocaue, Bulacan, and enjoys writing scripts,
playwrights and screenplays for independent films and theatre.
