41-62. Friction Coefficient
The friction coefficient between the drive pulley and
the belt varies according to the surface conditions of
the pulley and the material of which the pulley is made.
The values given in Table 19 are generally used.

‘The speed of the belt is limited not only by the trans
port capacity of the conveyor, but also by the belt
‘width and the characteristics of the materials carried.
It is most economical to use a narrow belt at high
speeds, but generally itis easier to operate wide belts
at high speeds than marrow belts.
Tables 3 and 4 give the maximum belt speeds in relation
to specific transport materials and belt-withs respec
tively
