Brian felt in Chapter 1. Be sure to cite specific text examples.
He might feel Confused, because the pilot had a HEART ATTACK.
He might feel Sad, because his parents are DIVORCED.
He might feel Sick, because hes feeling a LOT OF DIFFERENT
EMOTIONS.

Chapter 2 Assignment: Create a list of survival supplies you would need in a

plane crash and why you would need them. (Google Doc tables)
Item for Survival

Reason I Chose It

Clothes(Long Pants,Long Shirt,Long

Socks, Boots)

So I Have a change of clothes and to

keep warm.

Weapons(An Axe,a Machete.)

crocodile because they taste like
bacon and chicken.

Water(Lake Water,Ocean Water.)

Its water and you could boil the water

for SAFETY.

Tools(Fire Starter,A pot.)

I would need a fire starts to burn the

wood to cook the bugs or animals.

Chapter 3 Assignment: How did you react to Brians thoughts and actions? Do
you think that he is sensible or unreasonable? Explain your answer.

I believe he was reasonable with his thoughts because he thought and said to
himself that Going to die, Brian thought. Going to die, gonna die,
gonna die-his whole brain screamed it in the sudden silence. Gonna die.
And I also believe that he was scared because it said He desperately
needed a lake in front of the plane and all he saw through the
windshield were trees, green death trees. But It was the voice the book
gave that made be believe he was scared plus wouldn't you be scared if you were
almost and probably going to die.

Chapter 4 Assignment: Write 5 similes about Brians current state and explain
their meaning. Use a Google Table to do this.
Similes

Meanings

Brians head hurts like a giraffe kicking

a lion in the head.

His head is hurting really really bad

like a giraffe kicking a lion in the head.

Brian is as relieved as a dog owner

finding their dog.

Brian is relieved about something and

he is comparing it to a dog owner
finding the dog

Brian is as lost as a needle in a

haystack that is 100 miles long.

Brian is lost in either mental state or

lost in the forest and he is comparing
it as a needle in a haystack.

Brian is as happy as a kid getting

1,000,000 dollars.

Brian is happy he is alive and he is

comparing it to a kid getting 1,000,000
dollars.

Chapter 5 Assignment:Positive Thinking

Many people believe that if they have a positive attitude, good things will
happen. They believe that people with negative attitudes somehow prevent good
things from happening. Write an editorial in which you support the power of
positive thinking. Use Brians experience as an example of how positive thinking
can help people. At the conclusion of your editorial, encourage people to adopt
positive thoughts and to see what happens.
How positive thinking can help people is, because if they don't think postive
they will be scared and think about all of the bad things that can happen to them
in different situations. But if they think positive they will think of the good side
and like in the book hatchet the teacher said You are your most valuable

asset. Don't forget that. You are the best thing you have. After he
thought about that he emptied his hes pocket and found what he had he had
some pieces of paper and some money in case he got listed at a airport in a small
city to buy food just in case. When I was little I was scared of going into the water
or going scuba diving because I thought I would die by dangerous animals.
Chapter 6 Assignment: Pick an example of a flashback in the chapter, summarize
it, and explain how it helps/hurts Brian emotionally.
Brian had a flashback about turkey. And it hurt him by his stomach twisting. Brian
also had a flashback that his moms fitness is on wednesday and thursday she
meets the guy. That hurts him because he remembers that his dad doesn't know
about it and that they are divorced. Braian also had a flashback about a tv show
about air force. And how they did the 1 week surviving in the desert. And that
made him him go look for berries.

Chapter 7 Assignment:Create a bubble map with 6 external bubbles. In the center,

write conflicts. Identify and describe 6 different conflicts youve seen in the book.

Chapter 8 Assignment:Retell a time when you had a dream that ended up being
more of a message to you
So once in Georgia I made my dad real angry by asking him questions. When
he was doing his work on the computer. He thought he hit send to work but he
didn't. MY dream sayed computer downstairs and my dad getting in trouble for
not sending it. So I went down stairs and it sayed send. It was the least I could do
for getting him mad. And the saying if you you do something god you get
rewarded s true because I got to go to the movies and get candy.

Chapter 9 Assignment:Create a chart of objects that would be useful to create a

fire and not useful. Explain each.

Objects Needed To Make A Fire

Reasons Why

Wood

To make the fire start .

Paper

To keep it the fire going.

Oxygen

To also start the fire.

Chapter 10 Assignment: Create a table that lists at least two moods presented in
the text and give cited examples of each.

Moods:

Example:

Suspicion

Brian was Suspicious about what was in the sand and by

morning he would find out What Creature Did it.

Confident

Brian was Confident because he made a fire and he is happy

and he knows that he needs things for a campsite to Make A
Little Home.

Satisfied

Brian was Satisfied because when he ate the Eggs The

Hunger Went Down A Little Bit.

Chapter 11 Assignment:Put yourself in a catastrophic situation. How would it

change you?
I would put myself in a volcano disaster. It would destroy all of the houses on
the island and it would be nothing but ashes. I am alone because my family died
by breathing in the ashes. And my the dogs were killed by magma. What I would
do is to try to find lava rocks to build a house and make a huge fire for a signal so
I can be rescued. I would go to a store to see if there is anything left of food and
water and also check for a basement if there is a store. How it would change me is
that I would be stronger in a way if I fall of monkey bars it probably won't hurt a
lot. Only because like you just survived a volcano eruption. I would also be

stronger in a way that if someone or something dies that you care about it won't
get to you a lot. Only because your family and your dogs died, but it may still get
to you. I would also have a confidence booster if that happened to me. Now you
are probably wondering why would you choose that well it would be a journey. Oh
oh it would be fun. Cant forgot about that all bunch of fun.
Chapter 12 Assignment:Suppose that Brian has a pencil. To help sort out his
feelings about his parents, he writes to one of them on a piece of birch bark. Write
the letter that Brian might write to his mother or his father. Keep in mind the
issues and the details that are revealed in the novel. Remember, too, that for
certain reasons, Brian does not want to tell his father the Secret.
Dear mom,
I really miss, but disappointed in you. And you should know why. I am curious
about that person in a white shirt in the car. I am holding the secret in and trying
not to tell dad. I am getting flashbacks of you and dad.I crashed a plane in the
woods and forests. I was at first surviving of berries and built a hut to sleep in.I
found turtle eggs and I am eating them right now.1 each day every day. But the
only reason I'm alive is from a dream that told me about the hatchet . Now I have a
fire and trying to catch fish. But if i had to put all of my emotions together it
would be curious frightened and frustrated.
To:Mom
From:Brian
Chapter 13 Assignment: Upload the Symbol Drawing

Chapter 14 Assignment:Create a new invention that could help Brian survive in

the wilderness.
I think a hologram of predators would help Brian. There would be a keyboard.
And a computer to type a predator of a skunk. It would scare the skunk and it
would leave. It would connect to the hologram and pop up as thats animals
length, with, height to make it realistic. The hologram is also to produce 3D food to
trick animals as a trap.
It will help brian by attracting food for animals. It Will help Brian by scaring
animals away. It will also help Brian by telling him where to find food and
animals. It will tell him if those things are poisonous. Finally it would help Brian
by telling him the animals that live there.
Chapter 15 Assignment:Create a chart that shows Brians changing emotions in
this chapter and the text support to justify your answer.
Varying Emotion

Text Referenced Example Explained.

Craved 138 pg

He craved meat. He thought in the

night now of meat.

Hungry 140 pg

Not to get wood, not to get berries but

to get a bird and eat meat.

Happy 142 pg

Happy because he eat the bird and he

liked it.

Mad 130 pg

Mad because he got sprayed by a

skunk and the stench won't come off.

Frustrated 129 pg

Frustrated because the skunk eat the

eggs.

Chapter 16 Assignment:Create a chart that shows Brians changing emotions in

this chapter and the text support to justify your answer.
Varying Emotion

Text Refered Example Explained

Calm

Calm because he was saying what he

was going to do after the tornado
came. He was going to gather all the
supplies that are still usable.

Frustrated

Frustrated because he got tackled by a

moose and his ribs are really bruised
and he is hurting.

Mad

Mad because the tornado destroyed

the campsite and all of his supplies.

Chapter 17 Assignment:Make a pro/con chart about Brian getting into the airplane
wreckage. Then, write a summary paragraph of this information. Please use in
text citations.
Pros(+)

Cons(-)

Might get survival pack

He might die

Hunt better with new tools

Get severely injured

Materials+food

Trapped

GPS/Transmitter

Waste of Time and Energy

I think that if Brian gets into the plane wreckage Brian may be able to get the
survival kit. But the downside is that the water could put a lot of pressure on him
and he might drown. But if Brian doesn't try to get the survival kit then he
probably would just say I don't need a possibly snack, GPS,bandages, matches

and everything else in there. And how he would make it bake to land is probably
using the raft.
Chapter 18 & 19 Assignment:Create a chart in for possible themes and cited
reasons for each them. You must use at least 3.

Achievement

Survival

Positivity

Brian landed a crashing

plane. He started a fire
and also made fire. He
survived a tornado that
destroyed his whole
campsite. He ate what
nature gave him like
rabbits, fish and
a(fool)bird. Now you
probably made other
achievements but if you
were in the wilds and
YOU Were like brian i am
pretty sure that that
would be an
achievement.

Brian survived the crash

and he built things only
with his hatchet. He used
his prior knowledge of
TV to kelp him a lot and
he used his positivity to
help him survive in the
wilderness. Ok now I am
pretty sure if you went
camping and you lived
the night or week you
would be happy. But I
don't think Nobody lived
the way Brian did.
Survived a tornado. Got
trampled by a mosse.
Shot with quills by a
porcupine.

Brian had a lot of

positivity to live. He
remembered what his
teacher said to him to
always be positive and
never think negative. He
thought positive about
the plane crash. He
thought positive about
catching fish,building a
fire and finally hunting
birds. But the most
positive thing he did was
to get the survival kit in
the plane. (he almost
drowned in the).
