Rationale

Many students have seen flowers, plants, vegetables, and fruits at home, in the grocery store, or in their
very own neighborhood. I want them to learn that these flowers and plants come from a single seed.

1. Students will sit in the meeting rug. I will show them a handful of seeds. Ill ask the students to turn
and talk and discuss what I have shown them.
2. Together as a class we will complete the first two parts of KWL chart.
3. I will then read the book, Seeds! Seeds! Seeds! by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace.
4. I will discuss the story with the students. I will then ask the students to describe the types of seeds
they saw in the story. I will go over the things that Buddy bear did with the seeds while going back
to the book.
5. I will also discuss the purpose of the seeds (seeds grow into plants).
6. Ill then ask students to tell me what they have learned so I could fill out the last part of KWL chart.
