Traditions are practices or beliefs that were transferred from one generation to
another within the family. It is important to uphold these traditions because it
keeps the family bond stronger. Members at present are able to know what it
was like back then based on the traditions their ancestors held. Traditions also
hold a nostalgic and sentimental feeling because it is something that the past
members, the present members, and the future members have shared, are
sharing, and will share. Even if they would not meet personally, even if they
lived during a different time, the past, present, and future members have
something alike that they would do or that they believe in. It keeps the family
alive and there is a sense of belongingness that traditions bring. In a way, it
connects generations, despite the many differences each age group have with
another. It keeps the family united in one, or more, customs and beliefs.
Traditions label the family. It is something that keeps families special. And who
wouldn't want to have practices that only their families do? It sets them apart
from other families, therefore, members appreciate their family through
traditions.
