While prospects are clear for companies who have the capabilities, the same cannot be said
for small retail clothes sellers around who have limited access and capabilities to set up
distribution in supermarkets or other modern retail formats like department stores, malls and
shopping centers.
This traditional retail clothes sellers have too much inventory, history and investment. For
some, this is even their only bread and butter, thus, closing the shop is not an option.
However as the shopping habits of people shift towards online shopping and going to modern
retailers, customer traffic and everything associated with it will be affected adversely.
What is obvious is that aggressive marketing strategies have to be implemented by these
stores. Of all the elements in the marketing mix, what seems to be more viable to tweak are
product and promotions strategies.
As a market researcher, you are expected to help these small clothes shop to thrive
side by side with bigger and more resource-strapped rivals. In particular, you will be
more focused on collecting data on the following topic and presenting your analysis on
the data gathered:
What are the current promotional techniques being used by RTW Shops in
Da Nang and how effective are these current promotional techniques?
