1.1 Problems Given

1.2 Value of A, B, C, and D

B = 10 -1 = 9 Ships
C = (15500 x 9)/2 = 69750 TeUs
D = 4 days (odd)

1.3 Equipment System

The rear digit of NRP is 1, then the equipment system that will handle of port and
container terminal (including CFS) use Straddle Carrier.

1.4 Straddle Carrier

A straddle carrier is a non road going vehicle for use in port terminals and
intermodal yards used for stacking and moving ISO standard containers. Straddles pick
and carry containers while straddling their load and connecting to the top lifting points
via a container spreader. These machines have the ability to stack containers up to 4
high. These are capable of relatively low speeds (up to 30 km/h or 18.6 mph) with a

laden container. The workers that use this machinery sit at the very top seated facing
the middle as they can see behind them and in front of them. Straddle carriers can lift
up to 60 t (59 long tons; 66 short tons) which equals up to 2 full containers.

CHAPTER II
STEPS OF CALCULATION AND PLANNING

2.1 Container Yard Area

A container yard is a facility where cargo containers are transshipped
between different transport vehicles, for onward transportation. The transshipment
may be between container ships and land vehicles, for example trains or trucks, in
which case the terminal is described as a maritime container terminal. Alternatively
the transshipment may be between land vehicles, typically between train and truck,
in which case the terminal is described as an inland container terminal. Container
yard area can be determined by analitycal calculation or graphics. At this report use
analytical calculation. Analitycal calculation use 2 formula. The first formula in
general related to amount of stacking container and the second formula related to
selection of equipment system.

The first formula

A : Container Yard Area (m2)

D : Dwelling Time (days)
Sf : 29 m3
Sth : empty container = 5 7, filled container = 2 4
Bs : broken stowage of cargo = 0.4 -0.5

The second formula

O : Container Yard Area (m2)
Cj : Throughput/Years (TEUs/Years)
Tg : Dwelling Time (days) = (T+2)/3
T : Storage using Time (days)
F : area/TeU
r : Ratio of average stacking height and maximum stacking height (0,6 0,8)

2.2 Container Freight Station (CFS) Area
Container Freight Station (CFS) area is a facility where freight shipments
are consolidated or de-consolidated and staged between transport legs. A CFS
is

where cargo containers are transported to and from. The term CFS
at loading port means the location designated by carriers for the receiving
of cargo to be loaded into containers by the carrier. At discharge or destination

for devanning of containerized cargo.

CHAPTER III
LAY-OUT DESIGN OF PORT

3.1 Port Lay-out

A port container will be built at steep slope coast. It mean the port use wharf
type. The length of wharf depend on ship. There are 9 ships with LOA 180,3 m and
distance between 2 ships is 10% from LOA so the total length is 1766,69 m. The width
of port depend on area of container yard, building, and road access at the port. Total
area of container yard is 1,4 Ha, road access is 12 m, and distance between container
yard and access road is 20m, so the total port width is 262 m.
3.2 Container Yard Lay-out
The export and import container divide by 2 block and not be placed adjacent
because it more effisien for process unloading and dwelling time. For export area have
7400 m2 and will be planned with dimension 60 x 98,5 m for each block. For mport
area have 5200 m2 and will be planned by 2 dimension that is 60 x 70,5 m and 60 x
66,5 m. This dimension is bigger than area calculation because its include spacing
distance between 2 containers that the acces road of straddle carrier. The distance is 1,5
m, but this spacing not include from the container yard area calculation, the calculation
just for the container stacking area.
