Mr. Fuseini Luriwie Kanton, the Progressive People's Party Parliamentary candidate for Sissala
East Constituency, was born on 1st June, 1960. He is a farmer by profession. He practices,
livestock farming (e.g. Cattle, sheep, goats and pigs,), poultry farming (Ducks and Guinea fowls
etc.) and crop farming (e.g. Maize, Cassava, Beans).
Early years and education: Mr. Fuseini was born in to the royal Kanton family of Tumu, which
is in the Upper West Region of Ghana. His father Alhaji Yakubu Luriwie Kanton IV was the
Chief of Tumu and the Paramount Chief of the Tumu Traditional Council from 1974 to 2001.
Mr. Fuseini's pre-professional educational background shows that he attended the Mole Primary,
Lawra Secondary School from 1975 to 1979; he later had a transfer to Kanton Secondary to
continue his secondary education from 1979 to 1981.
Upon the successful completion of his secondary education, Mr. Fuseini then went on to pursue
an additional postgraduate diploma in business management at the Institute of Management
Studies in Kumasi from 1984 to 1987.

Early career: After completing his education Mr. Fuseini returned to Tumu and, from 1988 to
date, and took to farming. He is currently the Chairperson of Sissala Guinea fowl and piggery
committee.
Family
Mr. Fuseini is married to Mrs. Meri Fuseini with four children despite his busy schedule, as a
farmer Mr. Fuseini makes it a point to devote time to his family, his faith and his hobbies. He is a
Christian who believes in discipline, respect for others and tolerance of, other faiths and forms of
worship in Ghana. He is known to be non-discriminatory and an advocate of righteousness. As a
farmer Mr. Fuseini is an advocate of sustainable agriculture. He is an astute campaigner against
bad farming practices in Ghana especially climate change, which he has tasked himself to
addressing when he becomes Member of Parliament.

Sports
In the field of sports, Mr. Fuseini Luriwie Kanton Augustine was part of the Kanton Secondary
School sports team actively involved in playing Hockey, Football, Track and Field Events of
which he set an unbroken record in Short put (11.35 meters). He also represented the district
team and the regional team in the above mentioned events. Mr. Fuseini also took hunting as a
hobby, which he learnt from his father who was a well-known hunter in the region and beyond.
