Replacing the Heat Exchanger Cover Plates

MaxFire (S/N > 5,000) and UBB

Tools needed to replace the heat exchanger cover plates:


• Vacuum

Replacing the Heat Exchanger Cover Plates


□ Unplug the stove.
□ Make sure the stove is cool - open the fire box door.
□ To remove the heat exchanger cover plates: Insert your hand into the slot at the top of
the plate lifting in an upward direction allowing the bottom to swing out.
□ Holding the scraper handle with one hand, remove the heat exchanger cover plate from
the burn chamber.
□ Move the scrapers up and down to clean off the heat exchanger tubes.
□ Vacuum the area around the heat exchanger and the burn chamber.
□ To replace the heat exchanger covers: Insert the cover plates into the burn chamber
bottom end first. Lift the scraper all the way up swinging the top of the cover plate up and
into the slot of the scraper. Swing the bottom of the cover plate towards the rear of the
stove contacting the heat exchanger. Lower the scraper and the cover plate down unto
the lower retaining channel.
□ Make sure the scrapers are sitting on the top of the plates.
□ Close the firebox door.
□ Plug the stove in.
□ The stove is ready for use.
