1. Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 69, s. 2015, all public elementary and
secondary schools are enjoined to undertake relevant activities which emphasize
disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) education, with the theme "Pamilya at
Pamayanang Handa, Katuwang sa Pag-unlad ng Bansa".

1.
Pursuant to Executive Order No. 137, s. 1999 entitled Declaring the Month of
July of Every Year as National Disaster Consciousness Month and Institutionalizing the
Civil Defense Deputizatiori Program, the Department of Education (DepEd), through the
Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO),will lead in the observance of
the 2015 National Disaster Consciousness Month (NDCM) with the theme Pamilya
at Pamayanang Handa, Katuwang sa Paq-Unlad ng Bansa in July.

2.
In view of this, all DepEd offices and schools are enjoined to observe the NDCM
in accordance with DepEd Order No.9, s. 2015 entitled School Calendar for School
Year (SY) 2015-2016.
As part of the celebration, they are expected to undertake
relevant activities which emphasize disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM)
education such as, but not limited to, the following:
a. Display of streamers indicating this year's theme;
b. Conduct of orientation on the different health hazards;
c. Devoting of time for class discussion on preparedness, mitigation and
prevention during the rainy season;
d. Conduct of symposium or forum on DRRM;and
e. Conduct of related activities to ensure heightened awareness and
consciousness among school administrators, teachers, personnel and
school children nationwide on what to do before, during and after the
occurence of all forms of possible hazards in their respective areas.
3.
All schools and offices are encouraged to coordinate with their Local Disaster
Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC)and concerned agencies to
conduct multi-hazard drills to mark the significance of the occasion.
4.
Schools may use the preparedness guidelines of the Department of Science and
Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanologyand Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS)
and
the DOST-Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services
Administration (PAG-ASA), which are available in their respective websites as
reference to the DRRMactivities.

5.
Further, all schools shall conduct the school watching and hazard mapping
stipulated in DepEd Order No. 23, s. 2015 entitled Student-Led School Watching and
Hazard Mapping.
