5.1. SCOPE

these fittings shall also be provided to


ElectraNet for future reference.

This section provides details of drafting


standards and drawing management to be used
on this contract.

During Construction work, the Construction


contractor is required to manually mark up any
alteration required to the for Construction
drawings.
Upon
completion
of
the
construction works, these marked up drawings
are forwarded to the Designer whose task it is
to add these changes to the relevant electronic
drawings. Once added, these drawings become
as built drawings and bear a new alpha
revision.

5.2. DRAWINGS- FORMAT


All drawings shall be provided in accordance
with the ElectraNet drawing management
system, AIM.
Transmission line Project drawings shall be
created using Microstation or AutoCad
software.
A New drawing request form will be
provided by ElectraNet in electronic Excel
format to be completed by the Designer to
facilitate registration in AIM of all new
drawings.
When initially developing a design package,
the Designer may use temporary sequential
numbers. On completion of the for
information drawings, the Designer shall
request a New drawing request form from
the
ElectraNet
drawing
management
administrator. Upon receipt of the completed
New drawing request form from the
Designer, the drawing administrator will
provide a list of sequential numbers to be used
for the Project.
The Designer shall provide drawings marked
for tender or for information at the 15%
review stage. All drawings provided for
independent verification and for Private
Certification to be included in the Design
package, shall be marked for Construction.
Drawings shall be provided to ElectraNet in
both hard copy and electronic format. The
electronic format of the for tender or for
information and for Construction drawings
shall be in PDF format. The electronic format
of the as built drawings shall be in PDF &
AutoCad/Microstation format, depending on
the software used.
The drawings marked for Construction and
as built shall include the Manufacturers
name and part number/catalogue reference for
each fitting used. Manufacturers Drawings of

Following the completion of construction


works, the Designer shall provide to
ElectraNet, electronic and hard copy drawings
marked as built
Each drawing shall be numbered in
accordance with the Standard ElectraNet
transmission line layout. ie Sheet size - Type
identifier - Feeder identifier six digit
Sequential number-three digit Sheet number,

Eg. A typical drawing for a crossarm
component shall be:

Drawings associated with the same structural
element may have the same six digit
sequential number with multiple sheet
numbers. The last drawing revision being
shown on the as built drawing. All drawing
revisions shall have an alpha notation.

5.3. DRAWINGS-GENERAL
The Designer shall use Line Design software
PLS-CADD and provide ElectraNet with the
following :

plan & elevation drawings showing
the conductor at maximum operating
temperature;

Hard copies of the plan & elevation


drawings at scales Horiz: 1:5000, Vert

1:500 for tower lines and Horiz


1:2000, Vert 1:200 for pole lines.
Alternative drawing scales to suit the
terrain and A3 sheet size may be used
in agreement with ElectraNet;

Electronic TIFF or PDF files of plan &


elevation drawings showing the
conductor catenary at maximum
operating temperature;
Hard copies of PLS-CADD reports
including: Clearances in each span at
maximum operating temperature,
Wind/weight span report and stringing
charts (including sag and tension
charts) for each span, including
stringing charts for landing spans to
substation gantrys. Where new
conductor is proposed to be strung,
stringing charts shall make allowance
for conductor Creep over a 30 year
period.

The Designer shall provide a Line schedule to


ElectraNet of the design in electronic (Excel &
PDF) and hard copy format. ElectraNet will
provide a suitable electronic pro-forma
spreadsheet to the designer for the entry of line
schedule data.
The Designer shall prepare a Design Package
which includes:

Route & site plans;

PLS-CADD plan & elevation


drawings;

Line schedule/s;

Construction drawings;

Engineering calculations;

Application to cross or alter any


Railway crossings and associated
Drawings;

Materials list;

Stringing charts - including sag and


tension charts for each span;

procurement of materials;

Calculation of leg extension


requirements for towers at sites
located on sloping ground.

5.4. CONSTRUCTION
DRAWINGS
For tower lines : Construction drawingsincluding, but not limited to : electrical
clearance diagrams, tower footing and pegging
drawings, tower outline drawings, single
member detail drawings, leg extension
drawings, anticlimb drawings, fall arrest
drawings, insulator assembly drawings, tower
earthing drawing
For pole lines : Construction drawingsincluding, but not limited to : pole top
arrangements, crossarms & extension pieces,
footing/footing
reinforcement,
electrical
clearance diagrams, insulator assembliesphase
and
earthwire,
pole
plating/modification, step bolts, earth bonding,
ground level earthing, pole orientation, pole
rake and pole identification requirements

5.5. DRAWINGS - DESIGN


CERTIFICATION
REQUIREMENTS
The Designer shall consult with a Private
Certifier and arrange the checking of for
Construction Designs and associated
Engineering calculations by an independent
technical expert as required under the
Development Act 1993. Alternatively, the
Private Certifier may require the Designer to
forward all for Construction design
documentation to a suitably qualified Engineer
of his choice.
The design checker shall provide a Certificate
of Compliance in accordance with Regulation
88 of the development Act.
The Designer shall provide a minimum of 2
hard copies of the verified Construction
drawings
and
associated
Engineering
calculations and design reports to the Private

the Superintendent.

All drawings shall comply with Australian
Standards 1046, 1100(set), 1101 & 1102 and
AS ISO 1000.
All measurements shall be in millimetres.
All fonts shall comply with ISO 3098/1 Type
B Upright characters.

Upon request, ElectraNet will provide the


Contractor with Drawing border outlines for
various sheet sizes, including the ElectraNet
title block and Logo.
For reference, the Contractors drawing
number may be placed above the ElectraNet
title block in the lower right hand corner of the
drawing area.
All notes, instructions and words used on the
drawings shall be in the English language. All
drawings shall be to scale and fully detailed.
All drawings to contain key dimensions of all
parts, components and equipment, along with
complete details of all materials used in
manufacture, fabrication and assemblies. Any
references to off-drawing information shall
require supply of that information as part of
contract-supplied documentation, unless it
refers to recognisable third party reference
material such as international standards.
All associated documents shall comply with
relevant Australian Standards and shall be
formatted for printing on metric-sized paper,
preferably A4 and/or A3.

5.7. TRANSFER OF
OWNERSHIP
The Contractor shall transfer ownership of all
contract-specific drawings to the Principal
upon completion of the work. The Principal
will be permitted full use of the drawings for
