u (t ) y(t )
where u(t) and y(t) represent the sensor signal and the physical signal, respectively.
Therefore physical signal y(t) can be determined from sensor signal u(t) as
y(t ) u 2 (t )
Show the time history of y(t), analyse y(t) using DFT, and find y(t)s frequency range
and amplitude over its frequency range from the DFT analysis result.
(iv) It is known that the physical signal y(t) is only meaningful over the frequency range
of [0,10] Hz. In order to find the physically meaningful components of y(t), a low pass
digital filter with cut-off frequency 10Hz needs to be designed and used to process y(t).
Design such a digital filter, and show the filtered y(t) in both the time and frequency
domain.
Notes:
1. In the course work, please answer each question in a way similar to
answering exam questions. All diagrams produced using MATLAB need
to be provided . The answers should be based on the diagrams.
2. A hard copy of the completed assignment is required to be submitted to
the Reception of ACSE by 4.30pm Friday 20 May 2016. The barcode
for this submission can be found at https://foe-coversheet.group.shef.ac.uk/
