Individual Goals
From your conference with Dr Cate, identify all of your individual goals relevant to maths.
Reflect on each in the table below and set some new goals for this coming unit of work.
Initial goal
My Group collaboration
and participation - what
collaboration or participation
skills did you try this week?
The Broken Eggs
Week 2:
Mathematical Skill - what
did you learn or work on this
week?
Marcellas Bagels
Week 3:
Mathematical Skill - what
did you learn or work on this
week?
You can see this on this week POW I went really depth in all of
the sections. Next week I really want to work on my goal of
sharing in class three times in class.
Week 4:
I made no progress in my
goals this week.
Week 5:
Mathematical Skill - what
did you learn or work on this
week?
I used the habit to look for patterns. I used this habit because
when I was listing to other peoples presentation I had to look
for similar patterns to other problems. Like relating the Broken
egg problem to the 1-2-3-4 Problem because you have to try
multiple things/equations to get the answers.
Summary of understanding
Look at Edmodo and calculate the percentage of submitted assignments: 95%
Look at Powerschool and find out the proportion of your assignments with an A, B, C, D or F
grade. Complete this table:

Summary of understanding. (If someone outside the school asked you to explain what you
learned during this unit and how it is relevant to your life, what would you say? Think about the
progression of concepts from start to finish and think about what new things you would like to
learn and why.)
I would tell them, throughout this unit we have learn to see math through patterns. Math
algorithms were used in the problems we need to solve. We also used the system of equation.
Ex. 5 variables = 5 equations for System of equations. We learned that their is always multiple
solutions to a problem.
Ex. For the 1-2-3-4 problem people got different ways of getting 4 or 12.
Over all in this unit we learned that their is patterns in math and that we should always have an
open mind when coming up with solutions because sometimes there will be more than one.
Grade Justification. (Looking back over all of your work during this unit, suggest a grade that
you think you deserve and provide justification for that grade. Explain how you have grown as a
mathematician and in your effort to achieve goals. Remember that a higher grade is justified by
growth not final proficiency. For example, even if you understood all of the mathematical
concepts, but you didnt challenge yourself in your group work or to achieve your goals, your
grade would not be as high.)
I feel like I deserve a B. This is because even though I always got my work done and was
publish worthy. I never really pushed myself, I didnt really meet my goal of raising hand three
times each week. But I completed my goal of going more indepth in my POWS. Myself as a
group member have grown a lot, before it was really hard for me to take other peoples ideas
into consideration, but now im a really good a taking everyones ideas and compromising ways
to put them into our product. This is why I feel like I deserve a B because even though I pushed
myself in something's their was still a lot I could do to push myself.
What grade do you think you deserve for this unit?: I think I deserve a B in this unit.
Provide a justification for your grade:
This is because I feel like I did grow a lot but I didnt grow to the best of my potential
because I couldnt raise my hand in class three times per week. Because I believe that
was the only thing holding me back, because I always turned in my work on time and the
times I didnt is because I had a doctor's appointment that day and I had to wait until the
next day to get help from my peers or Dr.Cate. That is why I feel like I deserve a B.
