Introduction
Social networking sites, most notably Facebook have become so popular today
that they are leading words on the lips of every students. You love to spend most of your
time checking your Facebook updates, but do you know that there are many negative
effects of using Facebook?
Most of the students dont realize the negative effects impacts of Facebook on
their life. And, the main reason is because they are already addicted to it. And, this
addiction can lead to several negative developments.
The main purpose of this paper is to suggest some ways of minimizing the bad
impacts of Facebook to students and to show you the negative effects of this social
networking sites on students behavior and performance. This research also focused on
finding ways to enhance students motivation and improve their achievements, yet
without looking closely at the sources for their demotivation or academic failures.
Study Facebook is a social networking service launched in February 2004,
owned and operated by Facebook, Inc. As of September 2012, Facebook has over one
billion active users, more than half of them using Facebook on a mobile device. Users
must register before using the site, after which they may create a personal profile, add
other users as friends, and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when
they update their profile.

The effects of online activities on themselves and their interactions with others
have been discussed extensively. In particular, students are a main class of Facebook
users who spend long hours on the social network, which has worried parents and
educational authorities about their academic performance. The students themselves
argue that their presence on Facebook, as a leisure activity, does not hinder their
academic efforts, though some evidence suggests that their grades decline after they
join Facebook.
This study aims to determine the relations between the Christ the King College
(CKC) Grade 10 students usage pattern of social media and their level of school
performance.
Specifically, this study intends to answer the following questions:
What is the usage patterns of social media of CKC Grade 10 students based on
the following:
1.1. type of gadget/s that they used;
1.2. website or applications accessed;
1.3. reasons for accessing the website or applications, and;
1.4.frequency of use of the social media in a week?
What is the relation between the CKC Grade 10 students usage pattern of social
media and their level of school performance?
This study will be conducted to determine the effects of playing computer games
to the academic performance of Junior High School Students of Christ the King College
during the school year 2016-2017. The research tries to discover the gaming patterns of
junior high school students and its relation to their current academic performance.
The following are the terms used in this study. The words are defined according
to how they are utilized in the study for better comprehension of the study.
Housing Project- refers to the project that provide housing unit for the
unprivileged homeless.
Housing Program- a program that provide housing for unprivileged homeless
citizen which includes additional programs like livelihood.
Housing Beneficiaries- the recipient of the housing program and the one
occupying the unit.
Condominium unit- a residential unit that is being occupied by a beneficiary
Illegal Settlers- group of people living on land having no legal claim to or the
homes and plan do not follow codes and regulations.
Squatters- group of people who unlawfully occupy an uninhabited building or
unused land. It also refers to squatter settlement, slum or shanty town.
The study will benefit the following: students, teachers, parents, and researcher.
Students. The students will educated about the effects of using social media in
lessons. The result of the study would help improve their academic performance on
specific subjects.
Teachers. They will have the perspective on the effects on the students of
integration of social media to the lessons. The outcome of the research maybe used by
the teachers in order to create an effective learning programs.
Parents. The parents would also gain from this study. They will have an idea on
how social media can be an effective tool in developing their children. Likewise, they will
be educated on how students use social media properly.
Lastly, Researchers. Aside from enriching their knowledge on the research topic,
the researchers would also enhance their knowledge on writing research which is the
main goal in the execution of this study. Furthermore, the research would also help
future researchers that may have the same topic with this paper. They may use this as a
source to conduct their study.

It has made complex human interaction simpler; it made things that were already
there easier. It has simplified how we live our lives. But sometimes, simplicity can be
dangerous. If we live an over-simplified life, we tend to overlook how hard life really is. It
is like putting a tiger that is used to the troubles of the forest in a zoo where everything
is provided for it. It is just there to be viewed.
