Safety function
The OGP REUSE Solutions for AC 800M HI provides non-SIL, SIL 2 and SIL 3 compliant
application building blocks (Function Block Types and Control Module Types)
intended for Fire & Gas (F&G), Process Shutdown (PSD) and Emergency Shutdown
(ESD) application building, using the AC 800M HI Controller.
Application restrictions
The application building blocks must be properly integrated, configured and
validated in a Safety Application per the requirements in the Safety Manual.

SIL 2 / SIL 3 Capability

The application building blocks marked SIL 1-2 and SIL 3 has met manufacturer design
process requirements of Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2 and 3 respectively. These are intended
to achieve sufficient integrity against systematic errors of design by the manufacturer. A
safety application utilizing these application building blocks must not claim a Safety Integrity
Level higher than the statement.

SIL Verification:
The Safety Integrity Level (SIL) of Safety Functions provided by Safety Instrumented Systems
(SIS) utilizing application building blocks from OGP REUSE Solution for AC 800M HI must
be verified by an assessment of the safety application software and by a calculation of
PFH / PFDAVG considering the architecture, proof test interval, proof test effectiveness, any
automatic diagnostics, average repair time and the specific failure rates of all components
included in the SIS. Each part must be checked to assure compliance with minimum
hardware fault tolerance (HFT) requirements.
