Owner/President
Acquired and led 25 year old market leader in upper end kitchen and
bath design and remodeling. Awarded Best of Houzz for Service
2014-2016 based on excellence in customer reviews, quality of
services and responsiveness. Company consisted of 5 designers, 14
total employees creating and installing over 150 kitchen and baths per
year with emphasis on innovative and breakthrough designs.

Created successful marketing and advertising campaign with


local agency. Elements include robust social media campaign,
quarterly open house to the public where partner companies are
invited to show their products (leading tile, countertop,
appliance, plumbing, lighting vendors), annual consumer sales
contests, home tours, and charity events.
Expanded into multi-unit residential construction with selection
as supplier to downtown space upfits for young professionals and
downsizing couples.
Proactively developed business sources of referral by seeking
those who influence home renovation: architects, interior
designers, builders, remodelers, and realtors. Added 7 new

Senior Vice President, Business Development, 2003-2005
Responsible for all off-premises sales to grocery, mass merchandise
and convenience store trade. Generated sales of $535MM
representing 50% of company wide sales. Directed the activities of 17
employees.
Developed sales programs with major grocery accounts
supported by company owned stores. Introduced fresh daily
delivery program into Deli/Bakery Department. Doubled sales
over nonbranded thaw/serve doughnuts, and achieved market
leadership with a 35% share of the doughnut category
nationwide.
Capitalizing on success of programs in heartland markets,
introduced fresh daily delivery to all franchise operators to
capture total market potential. Made joint sales calls, conducted
on-site training and provided production and distribution
expertise to ensure successful rollout. Increased sales with
franchise operators by 85% and 23% in 2003 and 2004
respectively.
Implemented sales programs specifically for the mass channel,
and successfully sold into 828 Wal-Mart and 490 Target stores,
with weekly sales of $280,000 and $147,000 respectively.

Responsible for franchise store operations, representing 91 stores.
Ensured new stores were opened successfully and existing stores were
run to standard.
Worked with franchisees on detailed, 16 week new store opening
schedule countdown. Responsible for compliance with all
franchise standards. (hiring, training, production scheduling,
marketing, ordering, special events) Successfully opened 61
stores in 36 months, averaging $172,000 in opening week sales.
Reacquired New York City market from failing operator and
repositioned market for resale to new owner.
Hired and directed a staff of six Krispy Kreme franchise
consultants who worked directly with franchise groups to build
out their markets.
Part of six person multifunctional team that successfully
introduced Krispy Kreme to Australia. Worked in-country to help

franchisee hire and train staff, develop advertising/promotion


plans, make menu selections, and get regulatory approvals.
Market sales of $8.5MM and $17.8 MM in first two years.

Led the development of an expanded and more professional sales and
marketing department in preparing the company for successful IPO in
2000.
Formalized Krispy Kreme local store marketing strategy. This
involved systematizing various means of generating brand
awareness and word of mouth without paid media, and
replicating in different markets.
Wrote first formal marketing plan and presented to senior
management.
GULLWING PRODUCTIONS, Winston-Salem, NC 1993-1998
President
Cofounded and launched new company to provide garment
screenprinting for the imprinted apparel industry. Held equity
ownership and P&L responsibility in a start-up environment. Staffed all
functional areas, participated in site selection and upfit, equipment
purchase, systems development, operational procedures, and key
account sales. Led a team of eight direct reports and at peak 175
plant personnel.
Grew sales to $7MM in three years. Ranked in top 15 screenprint
shops in the U.S.
Secured new accounts including Hanes, Champion Products, Polo,
Starter, adidas.
Partnered with Hanes to launch 1996 Atlanta Olympic product
line to mass channel generating $2MM in sales in 1996.
Participated in negotiating and forming a joint venture with Sara
Lee in 1995.

Established strategic alliances with varied industry customers,
including Hard Rock Caf, Universal Studios, and Winterland
Productions. Negotiated exclusive contract to supply apparel for
$30MM annually to Winterland. Leveraged their music properties to
get retail sales of country music apparel in Wal-Mart and Target.
