1. INTRODUCTION
Bilge system is system that use to drain water in the void compartments when ship in
the flooding condition. Because of that bilge well shall put in every void space below
the sea level. The bilge pump can be couple with other pump such as ballast pump,
stand by sea water cooling pump and general service pump.
2. OBJECTIVES
1. To knowing the diameter of main and branch bilges pipes.
2. To calculating the capacity of Bilge Pump.
3. To determine the volume of bilge well.
4. To design the system on ship layout

bottom are to be fitted with nonreturn valve directly at the point of
entry into the tank.
Bilge suctions are to be so arranged as
not to impede the cleaning of bilges
and bilge wells. They are to be fitted
with easily detachable, corrosionresistance strums.
Emergency bilge suctions are to be
arranged such that they are accessible,
with free flow at a suitable distance
from the tank or the ship bottom

This document explain about the detail calculation of Bilge System. There are 3 main point
calculation in this documement such as bilge pipe diameter, pump spesification, and
volume of bigle well.
