A weather vane
(veleta) is an
instrument which tells
us the winds
direction. It can be
north, south, east or
west.
A barometer
(barmetro) is
something we use to
measure air pressure.
Air pressure changes
according to the
weather.
The weather forecast tells us what the weather will be like in different places.
TEMPERATE CLIMATES
Oceanic climates have mild temperatures all year long. Theres a lot of
precipitation, especially in the winter.
Mediterranean climates have mild winters and hot summers. It rains in the
spring and autumn, but summers are usually dry.
Continental climates have cold winters and hot summers. Theres not very
much precipitation.
HOT CLIMATES
Equatorial climates have high temperatures and a lot of precipitation all
year.
Tropical climates have high temperatures all year. Theres a lot of
precipitation in the summer, but the weather is dry in the winter.
Desert climates have very little precipitation all year. Temperatures can be
very extreme.
4. Los climas de Espaa.
Las diferencias de latitud, altitud, relieve y distancia al mar hacen que en
Espaa existan distintos tipos de climas.
EL CLIMA MEDITERRNEO
Clima mediterrneo tpico. Se da en zonas cercanas al mar Mediterrneo,
en Extremadura y en Andaluca Occidental. Sus temperaturas son suaves en
invierno y altas en verano. Las precipitaciones son escasas, sobre todo en
verano, aunque en otoo puede llover torrencialmente y provocar
inundaciones.
Clima mediterrneo de interior o continental. Se da en la Meseta, la
Depresin del Ebro, el interior de Catalua y el noreste de Andaluca. Las
temperaturas son altas en verano y bajas en invierno. Las precipitaciones son
escasas, aunque ms frecuentes en primavera y otoo. En invierno puede
nevar.
Clima mediterrneo seco. Se da en el sureste de la Pennsula. Sus
temperaturas son suaves en invierno y altas en verano. Las precipitaciones
son muy escasas.
EL CLIMA OCENICO
Se da en el norte y el noroeste de la Pennsula, cerca del mar Cantbrico y
del ocano Atlntico. Las temperaturas son suaves debido a la proximidad del
mar, aunque bajan en invierno. Las precipitaciones son frecuentes todo el
ao, aunque abundan ms en invierno.
EL CLIMA DE MONTAA
Se da a partir de 1500 m. de altitud. Las temperaturas son frescas en verano
y muy bajas en invierno. Las precipitaciones son frecuentes, y en invierno
suele nevar.
EL CLIMA SUBTROPICAL
Es el propio de las islas Canarias. Se caracteriza por temperaturas suaves todo
el ao y precipitaciones escasas, aunque son ms abundantes en las cumbres y
en el norte de algunas islas.
5. Why are climates changing?
The Earths climate is changing. Human activity is causing these changes. The
Earths atmosphere is being filled up with waste gases produced by industry,
deforestation and pollution from motor vehicles. We also consume large amount
of fuel in our homes.
