* Note: This guidance is written for the connection between EDANs Fetal Monitor F9/F9 Express/F6/F3/F2 and Insight Software.

2 Installing Insight

Step 1
Closing UAC in Win7 by the
following steps in your PC:
Start
Control Panel
User Accounts and Family Safety
User Accounts
Change User Account Control settings

Pull the control bar to Never notify

and then click on OK.
Restart the computer to make the
setting take effects.

Step 2

Put the Insight software installation

CD in CD-ROM.

The system plays the CD and the

Install window pops out.

Click on Insight in the Install

window to start Insight installing .

Step 2

Select a language as same as the

operating system language and
then click on OK.
(For non-English operating system)

Always click on Next until the

installation complete.

A shortcut icon of this software

appears on your desktop

*Note: To ensure normal operation of the software, please select the same language as that of the operating system.

Step 3 (Optional)

If you want to export the reports in

PDF files, please install PDFCreator

Click on PDFCreator(Optional)
button in installing PDF Creator the
Install window to start .

Step 3 (Optional)

When the dialog box in the left pops

up, deselect PDFCreator Browser
Add On for Internet Explorer and
Firefox before clicking on Next.

Step 3 (Optional)

When the dialog box in the left pops

up, deselect PDFCreator Browser
Add On for Internet Explorer and
Firefox before clicking on Next.

Choose the proper items like

installing other programs.

Click on Finish to exit Setup

3 Serial Port Connecting Mode

When connecting a bedside monitor to

a PC through a serial port, you need a
Serial Port Cable (As shown in Part 1).

Put the convex plug of this cable into

the DB9 interface of the bedside
monitor.

Put the concave plug of this cable into

the DB9 interface of the PC.

USB to RS232 Connecting

Extra USB to RS232 cable

Connect the DB9 plug of the USB to RS232 cable and

the serial port cable

In case your PC is not configured with a

serial port, you need an extra USB to
RS232 cable to connect the PC and the
serial port cable.

Put the USB plug of the USB to RS232

cable into one of the USB interfaces of
the PC.

Put the convex plug of this cable into

the DB9 interface of the bedside
monitor

USB to RS232 Connecting

Click on USB->COM Driver in the

Install window.

Click on INSTALL to start installing

USB->RS232 Driver.

When it shows Driver Install Success,

the installation is completed.

Check the port (COM) number by right clicking

on My Computer, and then clicking on
Properties > Hardware > Hardware Wizard.

The USB-SERIAL port number is shown in the

Ports item of the Device Manager window.

Serial port 1 ~ 16 are available on the Insight

software setup interface but only the ports 3
~ 16 are recommended for the USB to RS232
connecting mode.

If the USB-SERIAL port number is not in this

range, please change it as the following
procedure.

USB to RS232 Connecting

If the port number of the USB is not in the range

of 3 ~ 16, perform the following steps to
change it. Take changing COM33 into COM5 as
an example:

Open the Device Manager window.

Right click on USB-SERIAL (COM33), and then click

on Properties -> Port Settings -> Advanced

Open the COM Port Number pull-down list and

choose COM5.

To choose the net version for F6/F9, perform

the following steps:
1) Open the System Setup menu.
2) Select Network Setup.
3) Select the pane next to Net Version.
4) Select INSIGHT V1.2.
5) Select OK in the Network Setup menu.
6) Select OK in the System Setup menu.
7) Restart the monitor.

To choose the net version for F2/F3, perform

the following steps:
1) Open the System Setup menu.
2) Select Network Setup.
3) Select the pane next to Net Version.
4) Select INSIGHT V1.2.
5) Select OK in the Network Setup menu.
6) Select OK in the System Setup menu.
7) Restart the monitor.

4 Ethernet Connecting Mode

When connecting the bedside monitor
to a PC through Ethernet, you need a
network cable.

Put one connector of this cable into the

RJ45 interface of the bedside monitor.
Put the other connector into the RJ45
interface of the PC.

Set the IP of PC as shown in the image.

Insight Port Setting

Run Insight and enter Setup menu.

Select system setup menu

Press Alt+ Ctrl +F12 to get access to

System Setup.

Press Alt+ Ctrl +F11 to get access to

Monitor Network Setup.

Set an available Ethernet Port.

Click on OK to save and exit setup.

To change settings of F6/F9, perform the following

steps:
1 Open the System Setup menu.
2 Select Network Setup.
3 Select Net Version.
4 Select ETHERNET V1.2.
5 Select Server IP.
6 Set the IP address to be the same as that of
the PC.
7 Select Ethernet Port as same as in Insight.
8 Set the port number to be the same as that
of the software on the System Setup interface.
9 Select OK in the Network Setup menu.
10Select OK in the System Setup menu.
11Restart the monitor.
