Fan Motor Speed (Hydraulic and Radiator Cooling) - Test and Adjust
SMCS - 1386-036; 5061-036
1. Position the machine on level ground.
2. Stop the engine.
3. Install a multitach onto the fan. This will be used in order to monitor the fan speed.
4. Start the engine.
5. Place the machine controls at the following settings: Power Mode ON, engine speed dial "10" and AEC switch OFF.

(G) Travel Alarm Cancel Switch

6. Depress the following three switches on the operator monitor panel at the same time: switch for fine control (D) , switch
for user mode (E) and travel alarm cancel switch (G) . Hold all three switches down for at least three seconds.
7. The controller display (A) will be "00 00 00".
8. Input the service code "0E 32 3A". To increase the flashing character, push the switch for boom priority mode (B) . To
decrease the flashing character, push the switch for swing priority mode (C) . To move the flashing character to the right,
push the switch for fine control mode (D) . To move the flashing character to the left, push the switch for user mode (E) .
9. Once the service code is entered into the controller display (A) , depress the following three switches on the operator
monitor panel at the same time: switch for fine control (D) , switch for user mode (E) and travel alarm cancel switch (G) .
Hold all three switches down for at least three seconds.
10. The controller display (A) will change to "10 -- 1".
Note: If more than ten seconds pass between pushing the switches, controller display (1) will revert to the operation
mode.
Note: Refer to Service Manual, "Engine And Pump Electronic Control System" for additional information on Service
Mode.
11. Input the service code "6d" in order to set the maximum allowable fan speed. "6d -- 99" will be displayed on the monitor.
12. Use the switch for boom priority mode (B) and the switch for swing priority mode (C) in order to change the display to
read "6d -- 0".
13. Use the multitach in order to measure the fan speed. The fan speed should be 1380 to 1420 rpm.

Pump Compartment
(1) Relief valve
(2) Locknut
(3) Setscrew

14. If the fan speed is not 1380 to 1420 rpm, loosen locknut (2) of relief valve (1) . Use setscrew (3) in order to adjust the fan
speed.
15. Tighten locknut (2) after you adjust the fan speed.
16. Input the service code "7d" in order to calibrate the fan speed. "7d -- 0" will be displayed on the monitor.
17. Use the switch for fine control (D) in order to move the flashing character to the end of the display.
18. Use the switch for boom priority mode (B) and the switch for swing priority mode (C) in order to adjust the fan speed
while you measure the fan speed with the multitach. Adjust the fan speed to the proper speed.
Standard ... 1310 to 1350 rpm
Low Noise ... 1130 to 1170 rpm
19. Press travel alarm cancel switch (G) in order to save the adjusted data.
20. Input the service code "6c". This mode is used to cycle the fan speed. "6c -- OF" will be displayed on the monitor.
21. Press the travel alarm cancel switch (G) in order to change the display to read "6c -- ON".
22. The fan speed should now cycle. Read the multitach in order to check the fan speed.
23. Press the travel alarm cancel switch (G) again in order to turn off the test.
24. Press the switch for boom priority mode (B) , the switch for swing priority mode (C) , and the travel alarm cancel switch
(G) simultaneously for two seconds and turn the engine start switch to the OFF position. After ten seconds or more, the
engine start switch may be turned to the ON position.
25. The machine is now out of the service mode.
