A proposed 2017-2018 school year calendar is attached for your review. The calendar is intended to provide
maximum utilization of time for curriculum and staff training needs and minimal disruption within families with
common elementary and secondary start and finish dates. Consultation with the Catholic District School Board of
Eastern Ontario provides alignment of PA days and exam days to minimize transportation costs.
Features of the calendar include:
The school year runs from September 1, 2017 to June 28, 2018. School classes start for students on
September 5, 2017 and end on June 27, 2018
Semester 1 will run from September 1, 2017 (students starting on Sept 5) to January 31, 2018 (Jan 31 is a
PA Day)
Semester 2 will start on Thursday, Feb 1, 2018 and end on June 28, 2018 (students ending on Wednesday,
June 27, 2018)
Christmas break is December 25 to January 5
March break is March 12 to 16
The proposed Professional Activity days are as follows:
September 1, 2017

* January 31, 2018
* April 27, 2018
* June 1, 2018
* June 28, 2018
* PA dates align with the CDSBEO PA dates.
