The supreme divine creator, pervading the three cosmic regions; 'Bhuur', the earth, 'Bhuvah', the sky, and 'Svah', the heaven, we

And we pray that He may stimulate and inspire us with the power of intelligence and will, and lead us in the way of the gods to do
good and noble deeds.

On who chants Ganga Ganga even when he is several hundereds of miles away, all his sins will be washed away
and he will go to "Vishnu Loka".
24.
In this water, I invoke the presence of holy waters from the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, Godaavari, Sarswati, Narmada, Sindhu and Kaaveri.
I bow down to the Lord Shiva, who is the consort of Uma, who is the Teacher of the celestials, who is the
ultimate cause of the universe, who is adorned with snakes, who holds a deer, who is the Lord of beings,
whose three eyes are the sun, the moon, and the fire, who is dear to Vishnu, who is the refuge of the devotees,
who grants boons and who is all auspiciousness and who bestows peace.
26.
Salutations to you God, Who is the lord of the universe, Who is the greatest among gods, Who has three eyes, Who

who gives happiness to all.

O Lord, kindly forgive the wrong actions I have done knowingly or unknowingly, either through my organs of action(hands, feet,
speech) or through my organs of perception (ear, eyes) or by my mind. Glory to you, Mahadeva, the one who is the ocean of
kindness and the cause of happiness.
(Before going to sleep, one ends the day with this prayer. One asks the Lord for forgiveness for inappropriate actions that one may

even as a ripe cucumber from its stalk, and not be deprived of immortality.
I salute Vishnu, the sole master of the universe, whose presence is very peaceful, who stretches Himself on a serpent-bed, who sports
a lotus in His navel, who is the one lord of all the Devas, who is the support of the worlds, who is subtle and all-pervading like the
sky, whose complexion is like that of the clouds, whose form is very beautiful, who is the consort of Sri(Lakshmi), whose eyes are like
lotus petals, who is dedicated upon by Yogis and who eradicates the fear of Samsaara.
31.
I bow down my head before the four-handed Vishnu who sports in His hand the Sankha and the Discus, who is adorned with a crown

A SLOKA TO BE SAID WHEN ONE IS SICK OR WHILE TAKING MEDICINE FOR AN ILLNESS
35.
When the body becomes frail from a disease and is without vitality, consider the medicine as Holy Ganga water and consider
I bow to Raama, to Raamachandra, to Raamabhadra, the creator, to the Lord of the Raghus, the Beloved (of Seetha) and the Lord of Seetha.
37.
Blissful felicitations to the king of Kosala, ocean of virtues and the son of emperor Dasharatha.
I salute Lord Krishna, the Universal Spiritual Teacher, who is the son of Devaki and Vasudeva, who always gives mental
happiness to his mother Devaki and who killed the demons Kamsa and Chaanura.
39.
I salute the all-blissful Lord of auspiciousness, whose compassion makes the mute eloquent
and the cripple cross mountains.
40.
Oh Krishna! Son of Vasudeva, You are the Supreme Lord, remover of miseries. You destroy all evil, Oh Govinda! I repeatedly
bow to you!
41.
By always chanting the name of the Lord like Achuta, Ananta, Govinda, it will destroy all bad health and disease. What I
say is the truth.
By chanting and praying to Lord Hanuman, one will achieve intelligence, success, fearlessness, excellent health,
active state without laziness and ability to converse intelligently or sharpening of communication skills.
22
44.
I bow my head to Hanuman, the wind gods son, the messenger of Rama, and the leader of the monkey army, who is fast as the
wind and quick as the mind, who is the master of the senses and the most distinguished among the wise.
Brahma is the bottom root, Vishnu is the middle trunk, and Shiva is the top branches and leaves, hence I salute you
the whole tree(Vrukshraaja).
Navagraha Shloka
46.
I salute the nine planets Sun, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Raahu and Kethu
Consider morning Sun as Brahma, afternoon sun as Shiva and evening Sun as Vishnu. Thus visible sun embodies the Trinity.
I bow down to the Tulasi at whose base are all the holy rivers, on whose middle resides all the deities and at whose top resides
I salute the One who is the lamplight that brings auspiciousness; prosperity, good health, abundance of wealth, and the destruction
of the intellects enemy.
50.
Glow of the lamp embellishes both Brahma and Vishnu. It is capable of absorbing all sins. ThusI pray to the lamp that is lit in the evening.
Brief explanation: These prayers are chanted before lighting the lamp. Light is considered a symbol of auspiciousness, prosperity,
and abundance in many cultures. Light brings with it brightness, but how does it destroy the intellects enemy? The intellects
enemy is ignorance, which is likened to darkness. Light removes the darkness and makes it possible to see things clearly.
23
A prayer at bedtime
51.
Daily when you go to sleep, if you pray for Raama, Subramanya, Hanuman, Garuda, Bheema bad dreams will be destroyed.
The ten characteristics which constitute Dharma are identified as fortitude, forgiveness, self control, non-coveting, purity, control over senses,
power of mind to discriminate between good and bad, learning, truthfulness and absence of anger.

Wife, wealth, sons, grandsons, etc., all these; home, relations - the host of all these there may be; but if your mind does not bow at the
Teachers feet, What is the use? What is the use? What is the use?
The Vedas with their six auxiliaries and knowledge of sciences may be on the one's lips; one may have the gift of poesy; and may compose good
prose and poetry; but if your mind does not bow at the Teachers feet, What is the use? What is the use? What is the use?
In other lands I am honoured; in my country I am fortunate; in the ways of good conduct there is none that excels me' - thus one may think; but
if your mind does not bow at the Teachers feet, What is the use? What is the use? What is the use?
One's feet may be adored constantly by hosts of emperors and kings of the world; but if your mind does not bow at the Teachers feet,
What is the use? What is the use? What is the use?
My f ame has spread in all quarters by virtue of generosity and prowess; all the things of the world are in my hands as reward of these virtues;
but if your mind does not bow at the Teachers feet, What is the use? What is the use? What is the use?
Not in enjoyment, not in concentration, not in the multitudes of horses; nor in the face of the beloved, nor in wealth does the mind dwell; but
if your mind does not bow at the Teachers feet, What is the use? What is the use? What is the use?
Not in the forest, nor even in one's own house, nor in what-is-to-be-accomplished, nor in the body, nor in what is invaluable does my mind dwell;
but if your mind does not bow at the Teachers feet, What is the use? What is the use? What is the use?
Even if you have priceless jewel collection, even if you have an embracing passionate wife, if your mind does not bow at the
Teachers feet, What is the use? What is the use? What is the use?

Oh Lord of the Sesha mountain.

SREEMAD BHAGHAVADGEETHE
DHYAA-NA SLO-KAS
1.
Om. O Bhagavad Gita, with which Partha was illumined by Lord Narayana Himself, and which was composed within the
Mahabharata by the ancient sage, Vyasa, O Divine Mother, the destroyer of rebirth, the showerer of the nectar of Advaita, and
consisting of eighteen discoursesupon Thee, O Gita, O affectionate Mother, I meditate!
2.
Salutations unto thee, O Vyasa, of broad intellect and with eyes like the petals of a full-blown lotus, by whom the lamp of
knowledge, filled with the oil of the Mahabharata, has been lighted!
3.
Salutations to Lord Krishna, the Parijata or the Kalpataru or the bestower of all desires for those who take refuge in Him, the holder
of the whip in one hand, the holder of the symbol of divine knowledge and the milker of the divine nectar of the Bhagavad Gita!
4.
All the Upanishads are the cows; the milker is Krishna; the cowherd boy, Partha (Arjuna), is the calf; men of purified intellect are
the drinkers; the milk is the great nectar of the Gita.
5.
I salute Sri Krishna, the world-teacher, son of Vasudeva, the destroyer of Kamsa and Chanura, the supreme bliss of Devaki!
6.
With Kesava as the helmsman, verily was crossed by the Pandavas the battle-river, whose banks were Bhishma and Drona, whose
water was Jayadratha, whose blue lotus was the king of Gandhara, whose crocodile was Salya, whose current was Kripa, whose
billow was Karna, whose terrible alligators were Vikarna and Asvatthama, whose whirlpool was Duryodhana.
7.
May this lotus of the Mahabharata, born in the lake of the words of Vyasa, sweet with the fragrance of the meaning of the Gita,
with many stories as its stamens, fully opened by the discourses of Hari, the destroyer of the sins of Kali, and drunk joyously by the
bees of good men in the world, become day by day the bestower of good to us!
8.
I salute that Madhava, the source of supreme bliss, whose Grace makes the dumb eloquent and the cripple cross mountains!
9.
52
Salutations to that God whom Brahma, Indra, Varuna, Rudra and the Maruts praise with divine hymns, of whom the Samachanters sing by the Vedas and their Angas (in the Pada and Krama methods), and by the Upanishads; whom the Yogis see with
their minds absorbed in Him through meditation, and whose ends the hosts of Devas and Asuras know not!

That person who is equal to an enemy as well as a friend, also in honor or dishonor, impartial in cold, heat,
happiness and distress, exempt from attachment, equipoised in praise or repute, contemplatative before
speaking, satisfied with whatever comes on its own accord, not attached to domestic life, fixed in determination
and engaged in devotional service; such a one is very dear to Me.
