CONSISTENCY
Carlos Rafael R. Monteroso
Vice Governor, School of Engineering
Consistency is commitment. It is like keeping a promise to God without
breaking a bit. Always moving forward and no turning back.
For me, it all started with a simple reason. To contribute, even just a
little, to my department in my own ways. However, I ended up enjoying it
and not even noticing how far I have come. Just then I realized, I consider
myself a leader.
I would not say that it was a smooth sailing journey. The rocky roads
and bumpy ways of this path are the ones which put my commitment on
test. At first, I worked hard for no specific reason. Just working hard because I
was told to do so. Event after event, I realized how amazing it was for me, as
a leader, to see students smiling and indulging the fruits of our labor. It was
fulfilling for me to watch them celebrate for what we have worked hard for.
As I was watching them enjoy, all the exhaustion faded away. What was left
of me was satisfaction and pride. That is the rationale of my consistency.
They are the rationale of my commitment.
As a saying by Confucius goes, "Choose a job you love, and you will
never have to work day in your life."
COMMUNICATION
Ma. Cecilia L. Folgo
Governor, School of Nursing
Communication is one of the most important attributes that a leader
should maintain within the circle of her responsibilities. As someone that the
people follow and take orders from, a leader should maintain the patency of
an open communication between her people where they can voice out all
their concerns without any hesitation and worry that they might not be
heard.
Communication is a very important aspect for an individual who is
capable of leading. For without communication, your role as a leader
becomes inefficient. A leader cannot lead without communication. A leader
cannot evaluate her decisions for the group without the feedback of her
people which can only be done through communication. Communication is
the key for a successful leadership.
A leader would not be able to coordinate and cater the needs
people without proper communication. Communication is not just
speaking and hearing. For a communication to become effective, a
must not only hear what her people say, she should also listen. A
must not only speak, she should inspire and encourage her people.

INDUSTRY
Alvin Kim R. Bulfa
Governor, Graduate School
When I was in college, I became the governor of the School of
Education for two consecutive years and at present, the governor of the
Graduate School, which I think is another opportunity for me to serve the
people with what I have, with what I can offer and with all my heart.
Being a governor of the Graduate School is quite different from my
position during my college days because I have to handle professional
individuals with different schedules and working in different establishments
and places. But I took all these as challenges for me as a chosen leader.
