The Bauhaus.SOLAR Award is being awarded for

the first time at the 3 International Congress
Bauhaus.SOLAR in Erfurt (Germany).
This award for young talent is being advertised
Europe-wide by SolarInput e.V. and Solarvalley
Mitteldeutschland e.V. and is aimed at students and
young graduates. It honours superb architecture and
design projects which demonstrate the innovative
use of renewable energy.
“The developed environment is facing huge changes
due to rethinking the use of energy. In future energy
must be generated differently and consumed more
intelligently. Not only does this have to be considered
by planners and designers from the very first stage
but also requires visionaries to completely and
fundamentally rethink society and its environment.
These visions then have to be implemented”,
according to Prof. Dr. Gerd Zimmermann, Vice-
Chancellor of our cooperation partner the Bauhaus-
Universität Weimar.
“We need innovations which combine new resource-
saving technology with modern design” emphasises
Hubert Aulich, the boss of Erfurt PV Crystalox Solar
and chairman of the SolarInput association. This is to
be celebrated and honoured with the
Bauhaus.SOLAR Award.
Entry terms and conditions
Students from all European design and architecture
courses as well as young designers and architects
who graduated up to two years ago are invited to
enter the Bauhaus.SOLAR Award competition.
The submitted projects (designs and realised
projects) may not be more than two years old and
must have been produced during the course of study
or at the most two years after studying. Enrolment or
graduation must be sent as evidence with the entry
form.
Contributions can also be submitted which have
been produced as part of a team. A maximum of
three contributions is permitted per entrant.
There are no organisation or exhibition fees to enter
the competition.
The official languages of the competition are German
and English.

Awards
The Bauhaus.SOLAR Award is endowed with
€15,000.00 in total and offers young talented
designers and architects the chance to present
designs, projects and innovation to the public and
businesses.
The first prize for the Bauhaus.SOLAR Award is

€10,000. The remaining works selected for the 2
stage and nominated for the Bauhaus.SOLAR Award
will receive runners up prizes of €500.
The jury can also distribute the prize differently.
An independent jury shall decide on the awards in a
non-public adjudication process. The participants

explain their work in front of the jury.
